EHS Consulting has an immediate opening in our Edmonton location for an Industrial Hygienist. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Position Summary
The successful applicant will work under the direction of HazMat and Industrial Hygiene Project Managers to complete the day-to-day, hands on, site and office related aspects of industrial health and safety projects. You will travel to client project sites, set-up sampling equipment, collect air or material samples to test for hazardous materials and collect site field data. Specifically, this may include:
- Apply technical knowledge of methods, regulations, equipment, and procedures.
- Conduct hazardous materials surveys including but not limited to asbestos, mold, lead, PCBs, ozone depleting substances, mercury containing equipment, etc.
- Complete asbestos, lead, mould abatement air monitoring and site inspections
- Conduct industrial hygiene assessments inclusive of worker exposure monitoring and sampling for chemical, physical and biological agents at a wide variety of work sites.
- Complete indoor air quality assessments relating to comfort parameters or fugitive emissions.
- Support other similar projects related to worker exposure monitoring and/or indoor air quality.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and communicate findings and recommendations.
- Collect samples, interpret data, and prepare clear, accurate reports.
- Analyze results against legislation and industry guidelines.
- Liaise with clients to ensure health, safety, and hygiene needs are met.
- Participate in Health, Safety, and Quality program and ongoing technical training.
- Build and maintain positive client relations.
- Accommodate client schedules, including potential evening, overnight, weekend work and out of town work.
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for overtime work based on project needs. Some weekend and evening work will be required. Travel between worksites will be required locally, with occasional out-of-town travel (mileage is reimbursed).
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in environmental health and safety in a consulting or similar environment
- Post-secondary education in science, engineering or similar
- Master’s Degree in Occupational Hygiene or Certification as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), and/or Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH)
- Experience completing asbestos, silica, lead, welding fume, isocyanates, and other chemical exposure surveys and assessments
- Experience providing safe work procedures, sampling, inspection, and design of exposure controls, and exposure control plans
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Office 365
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
