Coast Essential Construction is hiring a Junior Project Manager / Project Coordinator to support the management and delivery of high-end custom residential construction projects throughout Squamish, Whistler, and the North Shore.
This is not a general office administration position. We are looking for someone with real construction knowledge, strong technical understanding, and the ability to manage project documentation, procurement, estimating, contracts, schedules, and communication with trades, suppliers, consultants, and site teams.
The right candidate will understand how construction projects are organized, how scopes of work are priced and awarded, how purchase orders and contracts are managed, and how information needs to flow between the office, site, consultants, trades, and clients.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with construction management training or experience who wants to grow into a full Project Manager role within a high-quality custom home building company.
About the Role
The Junior Project Manager / Project Coordinator will work directly with ownership, project managers, foremen, consultants, trades, and suppliers to help keep projects organized, properly documented, and moving forward.
You will be involved in estimating, procurement, purchase orders, trade coordination, contracts, RFIs, submittals, schedules, meeting notes, change tracking, and project documentation.
This role requires someone who can follow details through to completion, communicate professionally, and understand the importance of documentation, cost control, and accountability in construction.
Required Experience and Skills
The successful candidate must have experience or formal training in construction management and must be comfortable with the following:
- Reading and understanding construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and trade documents
- Estimating support, takeoffs, quote reviews, and trade comparisons
- Preparing and tracking purchase orders
- Procurement of materials, fixtures, equipment, and trade packages
- Understanding construction contracts, subcontract agreements, change orders, and basic contract administration
- Coordinating RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, samples, selections, and approvals
- Supporting project schedules and tracking key milestones
- Maintaining accurate project files, drawings, specifications, revisions, and documentation
- Communicating clearly with trades, suppliers, consultants, site teams, and clients
- Tracking project costs, allowances, extras, and budget updates
- Using construction software, spreadsheets, cloud-based filing systems, and project management platforms
Education and Background
The ideal candidate will have one or more of the following:
- Diploma, degree, certificate, or coursework in Construction Management
- Construction Management degree or master’s-level education would be a strong advantage
- Experience as a Project Coordinator, Junior Project Manager, Estimator, Site Coordinator, Assistant Superintendent, or similar construction role
- Experience working for a general contractor, construction manager, builder, developer, architect, engineer, or trade contractor
- Strong understanding of residential construction, preferably custom homes or high-end residential projects
Software and Technical Requirements
The successful candidate must be comfortable using computers and construction management tools. This role requires strong technical and administrative ability.
Required:
- Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
- Microsoft Word or Google Docs
- Cloud-based file management
- Email and professional written communication
- PDF drawing review and markup software such as Bluebeam or similar
- Construction management software such as Buildertrend, Procore, CoConstruct, or similar
Experience with Buildertrend is preferred, but experience with another construction management platform is acceptable if the candidate can learn quickly.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with creation and building project estimates, budgets, and trade quote comparisons
- Preparing and issuing purchase orders
- Supporting procurement and material tracking
- Assisting with contracts, scopes of work, change orders, and documentation
- Tracking RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, samples, selections, and approvals
- Updating project schedules and task lists
- Coordinating with trades, suppliers, consultants, and site teams
- Maintaining organized project files and drawing revisions
- Preparing meeting notes, action lists, and follow-up items
- Updating Buildertrend and project management systems
- Tracking allowances, extras, cost changes, and budget updates
- Supporting quality control documentation and site reporting
- Helping ensure the team is working from current information

Compensation
Compensation will depend on experience, education, and ability.
Expected range:
$30–$45 per hour or salary equivalent, depending on qualifications.
Higher compensation may be considered for a candidate with strong estimating, procurement, contract administration, and project management experience.
