Location: Squamish

Hours of Work: 32 hrs/wk; Tues-Fri, 9am-5pm with flexibility to work some evenings and weekends

Nature of position: Permanent, Part-Time

Compensation: $33.77

Start date: As soon as possible

Contribution:

The Community Living Coordinator plans, develops, implements, and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Community Inclusion Employment Services and Homeshare programs. Supervises program staff. The Coordinator ensures that program staff adheres to the mission and vision of the program and support individuals in developing relationships, independence and employment skills.

Qualifications:

Diploma in a related human / social service field.
Three (3) years recent related experience including one (1) year supervisory or administrative experience.
Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

A commitment and interest in the field of service to individuals with a developmental disability.
Demonstrated competency in written and verbal communication and computer skills.
Effective, proven interpersonal communications skills.
Ability to work independently with flexibility and an eclectic approach in order to meet the needs of the clients.
Ability to develop accessible resources.

Responsibilities:

Plans and develops programs in consultation with the Manager/Director. Plans and implements program activities and special events that support the mission and vision of the programs.
Formulates policies and procedures and evaluates the program in consultation with the Manager/Director.
Oversees the day-to-day operation of the program by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards are met.
Supervises program staff by performing duties such as assigning work, providing feedback on performance, and participating in performance evaluations.
Participates in the recruitment and selection of program staff by performing duties such as screening applicants, participating on interview panels, and making hiring recommendations.
Schedules program staff in accordance to program staffing requirements.
Orients, determines the need for and provides training to program staff, volunteers and practicum students.
Oversees the day-today overall case management and administration duties pertaining to the client. These duties include documentation, report writing, ensuring timelines are met, communicating and developing ongoing relationships with internal and external service providers.
Trains and mentors staff to be able to support their clients in developing relationships, independence and employment skills.
Carries a caseload of clients participating in the Community Inclusion and Employment programs.
Collaboratively develops individualized service plans and vocational program plan with the client including life skills, pre-employment skills, access to community and employment opportunities. Implements, monitors, evaluates and modifies plans.
Assists clients to function more independently in their own homes and in the community by assisting clients in their daily lives by building their skills. Reviews and evaluates clients’ progress and makes adjustments to programs as required. Provides feedback and support to clients and/or their families.
Ensures that all required documentation is complete and accurate.
Identifies social, economic, recreational, physical, vocational and educational services in the community that will meet clients’ needs.
Interviews and assesses clients’ interests, skills and abilities and provides orientation information. Assessments include barriers to employment. Provides vocational skills training for clients in accordance with established goals and plans.
Facilitates volunteer/employment placements for clients to further his/her skills and employment related learning.
Locates and supports employers in local businesses, industries and community agencies that match the interests, skills and abilities of clients.
Reviews and evaluates job situations and reports on clients’ needs, progress and work performance.
Provides reports on program progress to the Manager/Director and makes recommendations on modifications to program goals.
Promotes public awareness of and support for the program by performing duties such as producing promotional materials and attending community events.
Liaises with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals to the program and represent the organization or program in external events.
Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.
Performs other related duties as required.

Benefits and Perks:

Healthcare: We offer an extended health program for employees who work 20 hrs/wk or more. The program through Group Health covers MSP premiums, dental, vision, prescription medication, select alternative therapies, life insurance, and long-term disability. We also have an Employee and Family Assistance program. The premiums of the plan are 100% paid by the employer.

Vacation & Leave: Employees accumulate 6% vacation pay on all hours worked in the first and second year of employment. After the first two years of employment, they earn one additional day of vacation per year of service, to a maximum of 35 workdays.

Retirement Pension: When eligible, an employee will be enrolled in the Municipal Pension Plan with a matching contribution by SSCS.

Compensation: As per the BCGEU Collective Agreement, the wage is $33.77 per hour.
