Conveniently located in Park Royal Mall, Scholars of West Vancouver offers tutoring programs that deliver exceptional quality, service, and results that matter to families. With personalized plans that support the individualized learning style of every child, our West Vancouver tutors focus on making lessons engaging, effective, and enjoyable. Scholars’ in-centre and online tutoring programs teach students the skills they need to succeed in every subject from Kindergarten to Grade 12.

Job Description:
Scholars of West Vancouver is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable French Tutor who has experience working with students between Kindergarten to Grade 12. Teaching materials will be provided for students up to Grade 8. As a tutor and mentor with Scholars, you will be responsible for providing superior individualized support to students at all levels of their learning journey. Classes work in groups as large as three students, and the tutor is responsible for ensuring a positive and encouraging learning atmosphere for students to thrive in. Our mission is to create a dynamic team of passionate educators who want to make a positive difference for each student and instill a love for learning in everybody!

Essential Responsibilities:

Instruct students in reading, writing, and overall language development in French.
Support students in learning fundamental study habits to boost organization, time management, and independence.
Support students in building confidence and positive self-esteem to encourage motivation and resiliency.
Establish rapport with each student and execute positive and inclusive lessons. This includes the ability to incorporate engaging materials and activities to cater to individual learning styles.
Accurately submit scores and feedback regarding student progress for each lesson.
Contribute to a welcoming, questions-based learning environment in a polished and professional manner.
Keep work stations and learning areas tidy and organized to maximize the flow of students.
This is an in-person position.

Applicant Requirements:

University Degree, or must be currently enrolled in a university-level program with excellent standing.
BC/Canadian Teaching Certification would be an asset.
Candidates in a Bachelor of Education program or a university designation are also encouraged to apply.
Early Childhood Education experience would be an asset.
TESOL Certification would be an asset.
Experience working with special needs students who require extra learning supports would be an asset.
Proficiency in English and French is a must.
Previous experience working with children/students in a teaching or tutoring environment is required.
Proven ability to competently and confidently facilitate student sessions in the French language.
Must be able to teach French foundations in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
A passion for education and helping students reach their full potential.
Elevated and professional written and oral communication skills.
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with high attention to detail.
Ability to teach groups of up to 3 students with exceptional classroom management skills.
Ability to work as part of a team and independently.

**Must be available for in-person lessons a minimum of two days during the following hours.

Monday - Thursday between 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm

and

Saturday between 10:00 am - 3:00 pm.

** Priority will be given to those who can demonstrate the ability to teach multiple subjects (language, math, science) and those who have extended availability. **
