Easter Seals Newfoundland and Labrador is a nonprofit organization providing more than 20 programs and services to children, youth, and adults living with disabilities throughout the province. Through recreation, employment, education, equipment loan programs, and accessibility initiatives, we work to create a more inclusive Newfoundland and Labrador.
We are seeking a highly organized, motivated, and detail-oriented Fund Development & Communications Coordinator to join our team for a maternity leave position based in St. John's.
Position Overview
The Fund Development & Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Fund Development & Communications Manager, CEO, and Department Managers to identify funding opportunities, develop grant proposals, cultivate corporate and planned giving relationships, coordinate stewardship activities, and support organizational communications.
This position offers a unique opportunity to step into a well-established portfolio. The successful candidate will follow a comprehensive one-year work plan developed by the current Coordinator, providing clear guidance, established timelines, grant schedules, stewardship activities, and communications priorities throughout the maternity leave period.
Core Responsibilities
Grants, Corporate Giving, & Planned Giving
This role focuses on long-term, diversified revenue growth and donor stewardship through:
- Grant research, writing, submissions, and reporting
- Identifying and cultivating corporate sponsorship and giving opportunities
- Supporting planned giving initiatives
- Prospect research and donor cultivation
- Maintaining donor and funder records
- Tracking fundraising metrics and reporting outcomes
- Assisting with donor stewardship and recognition activities
Communications
This role also supports organizational communications through:
- Development and distribution of Mailchimp campaigns
- Website content updates
- Annual General Meeting materials
- Gratitude and Impact Reports
- Donor, sponsor, and stakeholder communications
- Content development supporting fundraising initiatives
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in communications, public relations, business, nonprofit management, marketing, English, or a related field is considered an asset. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- One to three years of grant writing experience, preferably within a charitable or nonprofit organization.
- Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong grammatical, editing, and proofreading abilities.
- Advanced research and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of fundraising principles, donor stewardship, prospect research, and revenue development strategies.
- Experience working with Google Drive, Wordpress, and Mailchimp.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while managing independent projects.
- Flexibility to occasionally work evenings and weekends as required.
- Valid driver's licence and access to reliable transportation.
