Job Description: Resource Development Officer
Type: Contract (8 months, possible extention)Full-Time 37.5 hr. per week.

United Way Newfoundland and Labrador is a provincial charitable organization bringing together donors, partners and volunteers to create meaningful social change. We invest in programs, projects and services all throughout Newfoundland and Labrador that ensure our most vulnerable are supported and cared for, that our kids and youth have opportunities to thrive, and that our communities are inclusive places for everyone. Through our annual fundraising campaign each year, we support our province via our Community Fund granting process, ensuring that local programs and organizations are able to meet their greatest needs.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team for the role of Resource Development Officer. This individual is responsible for creating and implementing strategies to support the mission of the organization through fundraising activities, donor cultivation, funding opportunities, and community engagement. Additionally, the RD Officer will be responsible for the oversight and management of existing workplace campaigns, donors and volunteers. This role requires a dynamic and proactive individual who can foster strong relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders to support the organization’s mission and goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Donor Growth
· Identify, cultivate, and secure new corporate partnerships and sponsorship opportunities
· Develop and grow workplace giving campaigns with local organizations
· Build and maintain relationships with individual donors to increase engagement and giving
· Implement strategies to expand the donor base and increase revenue streams
· Support outreach efforts through clear and engaging communication
2*. Donor Cultivation and Stewardship*
· Maintain and build relationships with current and prospective donors
· Coordinate donor recognition and stewardship activities to ensure ongoing engagement and satisfaction.
· Prepare personalized communication materials such as thank you letters, impact reports and updates.
3. Grant Writing & Fund Development
· Research and identify grant funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities
· Write, prepare, and submit compelling grant proposals and applications
· Manage grant timelines, reporting requirements, and follow-ups
· Maintain relationships with funders and support grant stewardship activities
4. Fundraising Campaign Management
· Oversee and manage existing fundraising campaigns to ensure goals are achieved, working directly with volunteers to help coordinate and launch their workplace campaigns, providing support and acting as the main point of contact.
· Monitor performance and optimize campaign effectiveness
· Ensure timely donor stewardship, including recognition, reporting, and communication
5. Event Planning and Support
· Assist in the planning and coordination of fundraising and community events
· Support logistics including event setup and teardown
· Evaluate event outcomes and provide recommendations for future improvements.
6. Data Management & Reporting
· Utilize existing donation software to maintain, track, analyze, and report on campaign performance
· Ensure data integrity and confidentiality
· Maintain accurate donor records and reporting metrics to guide and shape fundraising strategies.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree, or post-secondary certificate/diploma from an accredited university, college or technical institute, in social sciences or a relevant discipline.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in the charitable sector, including fundraising and donor relations, event planning and community engagement.
Skills:
· Professional demeanor with strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
· Proficiency in donor database management or an ability to learn.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Detail-oriented with strong organizational, time and project management skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Canva.
· Ability to solve problems and identify process improvements.
· Passion for nonprofit work and community impact
· Comfortable with public speaking
Requirements
· Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
· Ability to lift up to 25lbs
· Flexibility to work occasional evenings as required
· Ability to travel when opportunities arise.

Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
