About the Role
At an exciting time to join the Score Group team based at our facility in Paradise, Newfoundland, Canada, we are seeking a Manual Machinist to support activities. Reporting directly to the Machinist Workshop Team Leader, the Machinist plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and compliant operation for Score (Canada) Ltd. and Americas.
The Machinist will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various machines to produce precision parts and tools. The incumbent will carry out machining processes with a strong understanding of technical specifications and blueprints.

Main Responsibilities
- Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with company policies, procedures, standards and work instructions.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan best sequence of operations.
- Reviewing samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output.
- Planning the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job.
- Provide core competence on various machining operations.
- Ensure that any problems with drawings or work instructions are reported to the Supervisor immediately.
- Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces.
- Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machine tools to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, planning, drilling, precision grinding and other operations.
- Carry out mechanical fitting as required.
- Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- Ensure that all measuring equipment used is calibrated and in good working order prior to use.
- Ensure all workshop equipment and tooling are maintained regularly and all records kept up to date.
- Report any damaged tooling or machine breakdowns to the Supervisor.
- Conduct pressure and function testing of valves and actuators.
- Ensure all Machine Shop Quality Assurance (QA) Cards are filled out correctly.
- Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained at all times by keeping work areas clean, organized and free from hazards, waste and unnecessary materials.
- Execution of risk assessments and hazard assessments (START Cards) on all related Work Scopes.
- Participate in any Risk Assessments, Toolbox Talks, safety meetings, training, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives to support operational excellence.
- Escort any third-party inspectors as required.
- Assist other workshop personnel with any help they may require.
- Support other Score workshops, where priority dictates and as required.
- ·Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company policies, procedures, standards, and instructions.
- Any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
Qualifications & Experience
- Completion of a 4-year apprenticeship program or in progress.
- Proven experience as a machinist or in a similar role.
- Experience with operating and maintaining all machining equipment to meet the demands of the business.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials

Working Conditions
- Our working conditions vary. They range from indoor and outdoor, on- and off-shore, nightshift, weekends as well as on client sites.
- Must be available when called upon to work nightshifts and weekend rotations.
- Some travel will be required.
