JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced, motivated and safety-oriented Heavy Duty Equipment Technician / Truck & Transport Mechanic to join our team. This role supports the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a variety of trucks and transport vehicles under the guidance of experienced technicians. The successful candidate will be eager to learn, develop hands-on skills, and gain practical experience in a fast-paced environment while ensuring all work is performed safely and in compliance with applicable regulations. Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to grow technical knowledge are key to success in this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs on trucks and transport vehicles, including engines, transmissions, drivetrains, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems
- Support the diagnosis of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals
- Perform vehicle inspections under supervision to ensure safety and regulatory compliance
- Complete documentation of inspections, maintenance, and repairs
- Work closely with experienced technicians, supervisors, and operations staff to complete tasks efficiently and safely
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in both shop and roadside settings
- Follow all company safety procedures, policies, and OH&S standards
- Actively participate in training, mentorship, and skills development opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Registered apprentice in one of the following:
- Heavy Duty Equipment Technician
- Truck and Transport Mechanic
- Previous mechanical experience (work, school, or personal) is considered an asset
- Strong interest in heavy-duty equipment and mechanical systems
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and develop technical skills
- Valid driver’s license (clean driving record preferred)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Positive attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic
- Ability to work both independently (as skills develop) and as part of a team
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Experience with Mitchell 1 / Protractor software is considered an asset but not required
