Position Summary
Alpha-One is hiring a Field Operations Assistant for our London, ON operations.
This is a dynamic field-based role that combines customer engagement, Buried Drop Order creation, field support, quality follow-up, and coordination with fibre installation teams.
For part of the day, the successful candidate will visit homes and businesses where consent has already been obtained for fibre optic infrastructure. The candidate will observe the property, create a simple Buried Drop Order drawing showing the proposed fibre path from the street to the home or business, and obtain sign-off from the customer.
For the remaining part of the day, the candidate will support general field operations. This may include attending quality issues related to completed installations, assisting fibre installation technicians, visiting customer sites, collecting information from the field, supporting issue resolution, and helping the operations team complete day-to-day field requirements.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being outdoors, meeting people, working independently, solving practical problems, and supporting fast-moving field operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit residential and business properties where customers have already provided consent for fibre connection.
- Observe the property, perimeter, access points, and possible fibre path from the street to the home or business.
- Create accurate Buried Drop Order drawings using company-provided iPads or field tools.
- Explain the proposed fibre path clearly to homeowners or business owners.
- Obtain customer sign-off on completed BDO drawings.
- Maintain accurate records of visits, interactions, drawings, and completed assignments.
- Attend quality issues related to completed or ongoing fibre installations.
- Support fibre installation technicians in the field when required.
- Help identify and report field challenges, access issues, incomplete work, customer concerns, or site-specific problems.
- Coordinate with team leads and operations managers to complete daily field assignments.
- Provide timely updates, photos, notes, and reports from the field.
- Adapt to changing priorities and support different field operations tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Comfortable speaking with homeowners, business owners, technicians, and field teams.
- Comfortable with door-to-door and site-based field work.
- Ability to observe property layouts and follow basic field instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to complete accurate drawings and reports.
- Self-motivated, reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Flexible and willing to take on changing field responsibilities.
- Comfortable using iPads, mobile apps, maps, and basic digital reporting tools.
- Must possess a car and a valid driver’s license.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Prior telecom, fibre, construction, installation, field operations, or customer-facing experience is an asset, but not mandatory.
