Contract Summary:
Dalton Associates is seeking a passionate and experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our team as an independent contractor, providing culturally responsive OT services to children and youth in remote First Nations communities across Northern Ontario.
This unique opportunity involves monthly travel to fly-in communities for 5 days of in-community service, plus 2 travel days, and 1–2 days per week of virtual service delivery. Services will be delivered primarily in school settings, supporting students with developmental, sensory, motor, and functional needs.
Key Responsibilities:
· Deliver school-based OT assessments and interventions tailored to the needs of children and youth.
· Collaborate with educators, caregivers, and community members to support student success.
· Provide virtual follow-up sessions and consultations between community visits.
· Maintain accurate documentation and reporting in alignment with program standards.
· Contribute to culturally safe and trauma-informed care practices.

Qualifications:
· A Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
· Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).
· Experience working with children and youth in school or community settings.
· Ability to travel monthly to remote fly-in communities (travel logistics coordinated).
· Proficient with technology, in particular the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), electronic record management platforms, databases, etc.
· Strong ability to navigate community resources and remain attuned to the market in order to identify new resources or evidence in support of new resources.
· Strong ability to establish and maintain professional, supportive, respectful, and trusting relationships with colleagues, internal and external teams, clients, stakeholders, representing this organization in a professional and polished, authentic manner.
· Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
· Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Ability to self-direct and take initiative, and to collaborate with other team members.
· Personal and/or professional experience working with First Nations communities.
