Salary: $46,000 - $50,000 per year
Duco & Duco LLP is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Real Estate Law Clerk to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a candidate with at least one year of real estate law experience, however exceptional recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
We are willing to train the right individual who demonstrates strong academic performance, professionalism, and a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
- Assist lawyers and senior clerks with residential real estate transactions
- Open, maintain, and close client files
- Prepare correspondence and legal documentation
- Assist with title searches and review of title-related matters
- Prepare closing documentation and reporting packages
- Communicate professionally with clients, lenders, realtors, and third parties
- Organize and maintain electronic and physical file records
- Assist with administrative and clerical tasks related to real estate transactions
- Develop the skills necessary to independently manage files under supervision
QualificationsPreferred
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in a real estate law environment
- Familiarity with Ontario residential real estate transactions
- Experience with Teraview, Unity, or other legal software
Recent Graduates Welcome
Candidates with limited or no practical experience may be considered if they possess:
- Graduation from an accredited Law Clerk program
- Academic average in the high 80% range or above
- Official transcript demonstrating strong academic performance
- Three reference letters from instructors or professors
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
Experience with Teraview and legal software may be waived for exceptional candidates demonstrating outstanding academic achievement.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual salary of $48,000 – $55,000
- 4% vacation pay (equivalent to two weeks annually)
- Paid Christmas office closure (typically one week)
- Employees who voluntarily assist with real estate closings during the Christmas closure are compensated at 1.5 times their regular rate, while still receiving their paid closure week
- Five paid sick days annually
- Available following successful completion of the 90-day probationary period
- Prorated for the remainder of the first calendar year
- Renewed annually each January 1
- Unused sick days do not carry forward
- Paid statutory holidays
- Additional paid office holidays, including:
- Easter Monday
- Civic Holiday (August)
- Monday to Friday schedule
- 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- 30-minute unpaid lunch break
- Two paid 15-minute breaks (may be combined into a single 30-minute break)
