We are now looking for a motivated and experienced Excavator Operator to join this dynamic team.
Summary
The Surveyor is responsible for planning, overseeing, and ensuring the accuracy of excavation projects by conducting detailed surveys, measurements, and analyses. They will be working in the field, setting up a site with GPS, laying out a project, checking grades and communicating with the Project Team, Site Supervisors, and Operators. They must possess a positive attitude with other team members and portray a professional business image.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned)
These are the most prominent functions, responsibilities, and aspects of the job:
1. Site Analysis and Preparation:
- Conduct topographical surveys to assess site conditions before excavation (on foot, UTV or with a drone)
- Set up GPS base stations
- Create Control Points
- Staking
- Grade Checks for on going projects
2. Measurement and Mapping:
- Use advanced surveying equipment (e.g., GPS, total stations, laser scanners) to measure and map excavation sites.
- Monitor excavation progress and ensure alignment with design specifications.
3. Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure excavation activities comply with local laws, environmental guidelines, and safety standards.
- Mark boundaries, safe zones, and excavation limits on-site.
4. Communication and Collaboration:
- Have a good report and liaison with all UE Team Members to help them feel supported and have the organization’s best interest at heart.
- Provide technical guidance to excavation teams and contractors.
- Ensure professionalism when dealing with external and internal customers both in person and on the phone.
5. Equipment Maintenance:
- Calibrate and maintain surveying instruments.
- Ensure equipment is in working condition and suitable for site conditions.
- Trouble shooting and repair GPS equipment in the field, such as excavator, dozer or grader systems.

- Performs intricate calculations easily and is comfortable communicating complex data to others. Also, reasonably efficient when using numerical data in decision making and requires little assistance in processing charts and graphs.

- Comfortable working alone but willing to collaborate with the team when necessary.
- Responds well to a structured environment and does not mind close supervision.
- Capable of making timely responses but frequently deliberates by weighing the pros and cons of a situation.

Working Conditions
- Full-time position, 50 hours per week, to be determined based on business needs.
- Primarily on-site at excavation locations with varying weather conditions.
- May require travel to multiple project sites.
- Physical activity, including walking and standing for extended periods.

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
