Job Overview
The Director, Supply Chain Operations, is responsible for the leadership, optimization, and governance of all warehouse and inventory functions across the organization. This role ensures the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective receipt, storage, control, and distribution of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods while enabling scalable growth and operational excellence.
The Director is resilient and adaptable and is prepared to act as a player coach when required to build organizational competency and drive meaningful change. They set the vision for warehouse, inventory management and logistics, aligning infrastructure, systems, and talent with organizational objectives. This role drives enterprise-wide inventory accuracy, network optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives, while fostering a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, safety, and service excellence.
The Director partners cross-functionally with Operations, Procurement, Finance, Sales, and People & Culture to ensure seamless execution, robust controls, and data-driven decision-making that supports business performance and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
Team & Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership across warehouse, logistics, and inventory functions, aligning teams with organizational objectives and growth plans
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing, multi-site leadership team with clear accountability and performance expectations
- Foster a culture of safety, engagement, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
- Establish succession planning, training, and leadership development programs
- Partner with People & Culture on workforce planning, retention, and organizational design
Logistics
- Define and execute transportation strategy across all modes (ground, rail, air, ocean) to optimize cost, service, and reliability
- Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, including carrier selection, contract negotiation, and rate management
- Manage relationships with carriers, 3PLs, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure performance and scalability
- Lead cross-border logistics (Canada/USA), ensuring full regulatory and trade compliance
- Optimize routing, load planning, and freight consolidation to improve service levels and reduce costs
- Establish logistics KPIs (on-time delivery, cost per shipment, carrier performance) and drive continuous improvement
Warehouse Operations
- Lead multi-site warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, packing, shipping, and yard management
- Design and optimize warehouse network, layout, and material flow to support scalability and efficiency
- Implement and monitor operational KPIs (throughput, labor productivity, dwell time, service levels)
- Drive adoption of best practices in safety, quality, and operational execution
- Identify and implement automation and process improvements to enhance performance
Inventory Management
- Ensure enterprise-wide inventory accuracy, integrity, and control across all locations, including third-party facilities
- Establish and enforce inventory policies (FIFO, cycle counts, reconciliation, obsolescence management)
- Partner with Finance to ensure accurate inventory valuation, reporting, and audit readiness
- Optimize working capital through improved inventory turns and reduced waste
- Collaborate with Procurement and Operations to align material planning and inventory strategies with production and demand
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field; advanced degree considered an asset
- 8–12+ years of progressive leadership experience in warehouse, logistics, or supply chain operations, preferably within manufacturing or food processing
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-site operations
- Proven track record of driving operational transformation and continuous improvement
