Residential Product Specialist – Garage Door Industry
We are looking for a customer-focused Residential Product Specialist to support homeowners, custom home builders, contractors, and design-focused clients with garage door solutions that combine function, curb appeal, reliability, and long-term value. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping customers make confident product decisions, understands the importance of detail in residential construction, and can build strong relationships with builders and homeowners from first conversation through final order.
About the Role
As our Residential Product Specialist, you will be a key point of contact for customers who are choosing garage doors for new homes, renovations, custom builds, and replacement projects. You will guide customers through product options, design selections, measurements, features, finishes, hardware, opener compatibility, timelines, and next steps. You will also work closely with internal sales, operations, scheduling, and installation teams to ensure every order is accurate, complete, and set up for success.
What You’ll Do
· Assist residential customers and custom home builders with selecting garage doors, openers, accessories, and related products.
· Provide product guidance based on style, construction type, insulation needs, colour, window layouts, budget, and application.
· Prepare accurate quotes, product recommendations, and order details for residential projects.
· Review drawings, specifications, site details, measurements, and customer requirements to support accurate product selection.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with custom home builders, contractors, designers, and homeowners.
· Coordinate with internal teams to confirm product availability, lead times, installation requirements, and project timelines.
· Follow up with customers and builders to keep projects moving and provide a professional customer experience.
· Stay current on product lines, industry trends, design options, safety features, and manufacturer updates.
· Support showroom, phone, email, and in-person inquiries with professionalism and product knowledge.
· Help identify opportunities to grow residential sales through service, trust, and consultative selling.
What We’re Looking For
· Experience in residential sales, building materials, construction products, home improvement, garage doors, windows, doors, design selections, or a related field is an asset.
· Strong customer service skills with the ability to listen, ask good questions, and recommend practical solutions.
· Confidence working with homeowners, contractors, and custom home builders.
· Ability to read basic measurements, project details, product information, or construction-related documentation.
· Excellent communication, follow-up, and organizational skills.
· Comfortable using email, quoting tools, CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and product resources.
· Detail-oriented approach with a focus on accuracy, especially when preparing quotes and orders.
· Positive attitude, professional presentation, and willingness to learn product details in depth.
· Valid driver’s licence and in good standing is required for customer visit expectations.

Wage Range
Salary (paid weekly) $45,000–$55,000 per year, based on experience, product knowledge, and sales capability. Additional performance commission opportunities will be discussed on the final compensation structure.
