Full job description

Position Summary:

Totem Auto Group is seeking a highly organized, responsible, and detail-oriented Junior Accountant who will also manage reception duties as the first point of contact for our organization. This dual-role position is perfect for someone who is looking to grow in the field of accounting while also thriving in a customer-facing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the full spectrum of accounting functions as well as delivering exceptional front-desk service to clients and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting Duties:

Process accounts payable and receivable transactions in a timely and accurate manner
Reconcile bank statements, daily deposits, and credit card transactions
Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end closing procedures
Maintain general ledger and assist with financial reporting
Process payroll and ensure accurate records of employee hours and benefits
Assist with inventory and parts reconciliation
Manage filing and maintenance of financial records
Support year-end audit preparation and reporting
Handle other accounting-related duties as assigned by the Controller or Office Manager

Reception Duties:

Greet customers, visitors, and vendors in a courteous and professional manner
Answer and direct incoming calls using a multi-line phone system
Schedule service appointments and direct inquiries to the appropriate department
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area
Receive and distribute mail and deliveries
Provide general administrative support to other departments as needed
Handle walk-in customer inquiries and assist with showroom traffic coordination

Qualifications:

Education: Diploma or degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
Experience: 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience preferred; prior receptionist or administrative experience an asset
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, PBS, CDK, or Reynolds & Reynolds) considered an asset
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a professional demeanor
Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Reliable, responsible, and a team player with a positive attitude
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
