Job Summary
Seeking a Live-In-Caregiver on a renewable annual contract basis for an 84 year old male, providing general care duties. A negotiable salary plus a free housing benefit are the primary compensation.
Position is not expected to be a 24/7 and will be supported by friends, family, community resources and other paid workers. Primarily evening and overnight responsibilities but some daytime assistance could be requested to fill service gaps.
Position includes free housing, utilities, and vehicle mileage located in a detached home in Copperside Estates just east of Terrace. The home has a small friendly dog. The home has been outfitted with some security and safety devices for the client's safety and caregiver's peace of mind.
We have thoroughly tested the client at home and feel he is ready to return to his residence.
The employer for this position is also the family of the client.

About the Client
- 84 year old male who suffered a brain injury 1 year ago.
- Has recovered to point of walking mobility, self-care, eating, cleaning.
- Client can safely immerse in the general community with few concerns and under supervision.
- Symptoms resemble a person with dementia. (short term memory loss, confusion)
- Mostly pleasant personality and takes direction well.
- Due to his condition, he needs constant supervision.
Duties
- Primary responsibility will be evenings and overnights, as daytime assistance will be brought in, but there is a possibility of requesting daytime coverage when service gaps are present
- Client sleeps mostly ok, but candidate must be prepared for interventions if needed.
- Community and other resources will assist during the daytime and to give the live-in-caregiver time away for their own personal matters
- Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide companionship and activity, but also space and quiet when it's appropriate
- Pick up grocery orders from downtown
- Prepare simple but nutritious meals and monitor for choking
- Remind of medications (pills)
- Perform light housekeeping tasks
- Support and monitor client around mobility
- Monitor health status and report any concerns
- Assist with transportation to medical appointments and general outings (ie Happy Gang Centre, visits, errands)
- Correspond with family on a continual basis.
Qualifications
Candidates should have relevant personal or professional experience in caregiving roles such as assisted living, nursing home care, hospice care, or family home care. Experience working with seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those suffering from dementia is highly valued.
Background check required and references requested.
Candidates must have their own vehicle.
First aid is a valued skillset.
Candidates must be committed to a longer term mindset and able to withstand some adversity and transition.
Those on a temporary work visa may not be considered due to government requirements.
Hiring Process
This will not be a quick hire process. There will need to be an introductory and transitional process before a final offer is made. Either employer or candidate may withdraw during this time with no penalty or ill-will.
Pay: $2,500.00-$3,000.00 per month
