Title: Clinical Lead
Summary
The Terrace Foundry concurrent disorders clinician position provides intake, assessment, treatment and crisis intervention to young people and families attending Foundry Terrace. The Clinician will establish supportive and trusting relationships that promote mental health and wellness and reduce client risk within a stepped care model and in a walk-in basis. Foundry Terrace is an integrated youth and young adult service delivery model comprising primary health, mental health, substance use, social services and peer support.
As the Foundry Terrace Clinical Lead, In accordance with established vision and values of the organization, the Clinical Lead provides line leadership, supervision, clinical support, service delivery level problem solving to multidisciplinary Mental Health & Substance Use teams and Peer Support.
The Clinical Lead works to deliver high quality, client focused programs across the continuum of community services and provides liaison to local agencies and other service providers.
In collaboration with the Program Associate Director, the Clinical Lead is also responsible to participate in the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of clinical practice to ensure quality client care outcomes. As well as contribute to site oversite from an administrative and overall service delivery perspective.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
To perform the job successfully the Clinician must be able to perform consistently each essential duty satisfactorily. Other related duties may be assigned.
Clinician Duties:
- Provides intake screening, assessment, case management and treatment planning to Foundry clients as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Provides individual, family, and group counseling using therapeutic techniques depending on client need and within the Foundry Step Care Model and using Foundry core clinical modalities.
- Provides crisis intervention and support to youth and their families
- Refers youth and their families to other services, residential programs, and support groups as required
- Collaborates and consults with other service providers to provide needed services to youth and families
- Maintains related records and statistics and provides reports to the Clinical Coordinator and Operations Manager
- Liaises with and/or promotes the interests of clients with other community service providers, professionals and school personnel.
- Provides clinical/case consultation to other service providers at the Centre
- Provides education and consultation to clients, families and other professionals
Clinical Lead Duties:
- In conjunction with the program Associate Director, coordinates the day-to-day operation of the program and supervises staff by ensuring appropriate levels of staffing are maintained by communicating with the Human Resoruce department to confirm approved leaves and replacement requirements. Assesses the workload for all clinical and sub clinicalstaff and allocates staff to ensure quality care is delivered to all areas. Makes vacation time recommendations and all other staff absences in consultation with the Program Associate Director.
- Provides consultation and supervision to clinical staff who perform individual and group therapy and who utilize specialized training in advanced research and therapeutic interventions.
- Provides consultation and supervision to non clinical staff who provide individual and group support services.
- Ensures quality of service including appropriate service provision within the Foundry Step Care Model.
- Ensures ARC integration (Attachment, Regulation, Competency Complex Trauma Framework) into service delivery.
- Evaluates staff performance by writing, signing and conducting performance appraisals. Based on the performance appraisal, makes recommendations to the program Associate Director and Human Resources as required. Participates in hiring staff by acting as a recruitment panel member.
- Ensure new Foundry Terrace employees receive orientations to the procedures and operations and understand the service delivery model and youth-centered philosophy.
- In conjunction with the Program Associate Director, works collaboratively with Foundry Terrace partners to ensure that any challenges are identified and resolved to maintain sustainable, efficient and ongoing delivery of programs and services.
- Helps shape, structure and support a working environment that is conducive to high productivity, acceptance, collaboration and free knowledge exchange.
- Understands expectations and evaluation measures and help to contribute to overall organizational success.
- Helps to develop the Foundry model in conjunction with senior management, Partners and Foundry Central Office, and ensure deliverables and key performance indicators are achieved.
- In conjunction with the Program Associate Director, ensures financial responsibility, risk management and accountability.
- Ensures adherence to relevant quality and safety professional and healthcare standards and mandatory education related to risk management, workplace health and safety, and other relevant areas.
- Monitors, evaluates and maximizes data collection and compliance with the dataset requirements from Foundry Central Office and any other funding body as necessary.
- Recognize sand manages risk, and ensure that actions are taken to prevent and minimize harm to clients of the programs and services, staff and volunteers.

Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education and/or Experience
- Master’s Degree in counseling psychology, social work or related human/social service field.
- A minimum of two years recent related experience which should include:
- Experience providing counseling high-risk youth and young adults who struggle with mental health and/or substance use issues.
- Understanding of mental health and substance use and current treatment methodologies, intervention strategies, the change process, and community dynamics
- Demonstrated ability to complete screening and comprehensive assessments for mental health, substance use, suicide and high risk behaviours using standardized frameworks and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to use evidence based intervention strategies for youth presenting with mental health, substance use and other concerns.
- Solid understanding of human services ethics with regard to confidentiality and appropriate boundaries
- Knowledge of harm reduction and trauma informed practice
- Ability to maintain a calm professional approach in crisis situations
- Demonstrated ability to work constructively and cooperatively in a team setting and as part of multi-disciplinary team and with partner services
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Comprehensive knowledge of relevant acts including the Mental Health Act, pertinent regulations, policies and procedures and other statutory duties
- Knowledge and experience with case recording practices
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

The Clinician must:
- Demonstrate a cultural sensitivity and understanding of the client population’s socio-economic characteristics
- Have the ability to work with any client that is referred.
- Have the ability to work with values and behaviours that are very different from those of the employee.
- Ensure that personal values and beliefs are not insinuated, promoted, or imposed on the clients.
- Have a positive conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change.
- Have the ability to work in partnership with other team members, including referring authorities
- Have the ability to recognize persons with special needs and make appropriate referrals
- Have basic computer and internet skills
Other Job Requirements
- The counsellor must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate walk in hours of the clinic.
- A clear criminal record from the Justice Institute of BC for working with vulnerable youth
- The Clinician will follow the Code of Ethics and the Mission Statement of the Terrace Foundry and Foundry.
Shifts: Monday to Friday, some weekend work depending upon need
