Full job description

DEFINITION:

Under the supervision of the Aquatic Supervisor or Director of Parks, RecreationCulture, or designate, the Recreation Clerk provides front line customer service including program registration, admission of patrons to the facility, maintains records, reconciles and balances cash transactions, performs clerical duties and deals effectively with the public. This position is located at the Terrace and District Aquatic Centre and/or the Sportsplex.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

Be the first point of contact to the public; answer public enquiries about the Aquatic Centre or the Sportsplex Centre's programmes and schedules;
Operate point of sales (POS) system;
Receive cash, perform all cash procedures including issuing receipts and credit card transactions, record and balance daily cash transactions as well as issue facility passes and registrations utilizing Active Net;
Know and follow emergency procedures;
Assist in maintaining and overseeing lobby, washrooms and change room use (Aquatic Centre);
Perform janitorial duties, as assigned;
Other related duties, as required.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Completion of Grade 12;
Minimum of one-year related experience, in either retail and/or bookkeeping/clerical;
Ability to operate related software and equipment;
Computer experience, preferably in a Windows environment, and Active Net software;
Accurate typing speed of 55 wpm;
Some janitorial experience;
First Aid certification or willing to acquire;
Ability to work independently and to accomplish tasks and assignments;
Ability to deal effectively with co-workers and the public;
Good written and oral communication skills.
