Full job description

Overview
The Optical Assistant plays a vital role in providing exceptional customer service and support within an optical retail environment. This position involves greeting patients, pre-testing for the Optometrist, verifying glasses prescriptions and entry level office duties. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of retail experience and knowledge of medical terminology, contributing to a positive experience for all clients.

Excellent communication skills are a must.

Duties

Pre-test for the Optometrist.
Obtain Patient information and measurements related to Eye Examinations.
Make appointments using Optometric software.
Maintain Patient files.
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the optical area
Greet and assist customers in selecting eyewear and accessories that meet their needs.
Assist in processing sales transactions efficiently using point-of-sale systems.
Collaborate with optometrists and other staff to ensure seamless patient care.
Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues related to products or services.

Skills

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with customers and team members.
Strong background in retail management or retail sales, with a focus on customer service excellence.
Familiarity with medical terminology related to eye care is preferred.
Experience working in a laboratory setting is a plus.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Knowledge of optical products, including lenses and frames, is beneficial.

Pay: $20.50-$26.00 per hour
