Job Summary
Cyient is seeking an experienced Field Technician with strong Aerial Telecommunications and Outside Plant (OSP) experience to support telecom field projects in the Thunder Bay and vicinities.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with aerial fiber networks, utility poles, field surveys, pole-line infrastructure, and OSP telecommunications projects. This position requires regular field work and travel to project locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform field surveys of aerial telecommunications and OSP infrastructure.
- Inspect and document existing utility poles, aerial fiber routes, attachments, cables, and related telecom equipment.
- Collect accurate field measurements, photographs, equipment information, and site conditions.
- Identify existing pole-line conditions and potential construction or design issues.
- Verify field information required for engineering and design activities.
- Support fiber-optic and aerial telecom network deployment projects.
- Maintain accurate field documentation and submit completed field data within required timelines.
- Coordinate with engineering, design, construction, and project teams.
- Follow all applicable safety procedures while working in the field and around utility infrastructure.
- Travel to project sites as required.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Field Technician, OSP Technician, Telecom Field Technician, Fiber Technician, or similar role.
- Strong experience with aerial telecommunications / OSP infrastructure.
- Knowledge of utility poles, pole attachments, aerial fiber, telecom cables, and outside plant construction.
- Experience conducting field surveys and collecting technical field data.
- Ability to read and understand telecom drawings, maps, and construction documentation.
- Comfortable working outdoors and traveling between project locations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.

Role
Under direct supervision, performs basic customer support activities for equipment and systems products such as wiring, cabling, and relatively non-complex equipment. Using detailed company guidelines, performs on-site preventative maintenance, routine repair, and calibration after installation. Assists higher level technicians with on-site installations, check-out, and emergency repairs. Refers more complex problems to higher level technicians. Knowledge of operational systems may be broad, but not as in-depth as a field engineer. Typically requires formal technical training beyond high school and no prior experience.
Pay: $25.00-$27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
