What You Will Do:
- Construct, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, inspect, and operate overhead and underground electrical distribution systems
- Perform approved live line work on voltages up to and including 25kV
- Install and replace poles, transformers, conductors, switchgear, and related electrical infrastructure
- Perform switching, isolation, grounding, testing, and restoration activities in accordance with utility procedures and the Utility Work Protection Code
- Respond to outages, emergencies, storm restoration, and mutual assistance assignments
- Complete inspections and documentation in accordance with Ontario Regulation 22/04 and utility standards
- Operate utility vehicles and specialized line equipment safely and effectively
- Support apprentice development through mentorship, leadership, and demonstration of safe work practices
- Participate in standby rotations, emergency response activities, training, and continuous improvement initiatives
What You Bring:
- You are a dependable trades professional who takes pride in working safely, teamwork and customer service
- Ontario Powerline Technician Certificate of Qualification and/or Red Seal Certification as a Powerline Technician
- Minimum Grade 12 diploma
- Demonstrated experience with overhead and underground electrical distribution systems
- Experience performing approved live line work techniques up to and including 25kV
- Strong knowledge of applicable legislation, utility standards, safe work practices, EUSR, and UWPC requirements
- Valid Ontario Class “AZ Restricted” driver’s licence with a satisfactory driving record
- Strong communication, customer service, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills
- Mechanical aptitude and experience operating utility vehicles, aerial devices, and related equipment
- Experience using outage management systems, mobile workforce technology, and electronic work management systems
- Ideally a post secondary education in an Electrical Technician or Electrical Technologist program
Working Conditions and Employment Requirements
This is a safety sensitive position that requires the PLT to work outdoors in a variety of weather and environmental conditions, at heights, and in confined spaces. Candidates must be willing and able to participate in overtime, standby rotations, and shift work, and respond to outages and emergency situations. Candidates must also be willing and able to travel and work outside the service territory to support mutual assistance and operational needs, meet the physical demands associated with the position, successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, and successfully pass a Police Information Check.
