Full job description

OVERVIEW

To apply the current techniques and knowledge for decontamination, processing and sterilization of equipment, supplies used in Endoscopy/Urology/Minor Surgery and Clinics (OPU M2). The Reprocessing Technician is also responsible for selected duties related to maintenance of a safe and clean workenvironment for selected duties as they relate to patient care and is responsible for specific equipment and supplies in the patient care area.

EDUCATION

Minimum of grade 12 or equivalent.
Successful completion of MDRD certification from an accredited college (completion of program within the last 2 years) required.

QUALIFICATIONS

1-3 years recent work experience within related field required.
Recent experience in a sterile processing area required.
Demonstrated excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal skills and team building skills.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment required.

- Physical demands: ability to assist with transportation of equipment - pushing/pulling of equipment carts ability to stand/walk for long period of time.

Assists with maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the unit.
Adheres to the principles of asepsis.
Ability to problem solve.
Good decision-making skills.
Must be willing to work in all areas of the Health Service (skills and abilities considered).
Good work and attendance record is required.
