Puppy Trainer (In-Home | Part-Time / Contract)

SwissRidge Kennels is looking for experienced, dedicated puppy trainers to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who truly loves dogs, is home during the day, and enjoys helping puppies build a strong foundation during their most important developmental stage.
Position Overview
Trainers will be required to take 8-week-old puppies into their home and provide structured training for 4–8 weeks. Puppies remain under SwissRidge’s program and protocols, with ongoing support from our lead trainer.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care and structured training for an 8-week-old puppy in your home
- Teach basic obedience and foundation skills including:
Sit, Down, Come, Stay, Leave It, Watch Me, and loose-leash walking
- Work on crate training and house training
- Safely socialize puppies through age-appropriate outings and experiences
- Complete SwissRidge’s online training course
- Participate in weekly training check-ins with our head trainer
- Write weekly progress reports for puppy owners
- Prepare a final written report including training videos and photos at the end of the program
- Transport puppies to and from our facility and to veterinary appointments as needed
Requirements
- Previous dog training experience (professional or extensive hands-on experience required)
- A genuine love for dogs and puppies
- Must be home during the day and able to provide consistent supervision and care
- Strong written communication skills (reports are required)
- Comfortable taking photos and videos regularly
- Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
- Ability to transport puppies safely to our facility and vet appointments
- Solid understanding of basic dog care, health, and puppy development
- Willingness to learn and follow SwissRidge training methods and techniques
