The starting pay range for the role is $25.75 - $32.05 based on experience and qualifications. Plus bonus, comprehensive benefits, retirement savings plan, paid vacation, and other perks and opportunities.
Job Scope:
The Production Senior Operator is an integral member of the production team operating the Filling / Packaging / Processing equipment, as well as providing relief coverage in other areas of the plant. When required, the Production Senior Operator is also responsible for organizing the work of Production Operators, Material Handlers and Helpers. In the absence of the Production Supervisor, the Production Senior Operator provides leadership and coverage for all Supervisory Responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
· Operate Filling / Packaging Equipment in the Packaging department
· Ensure integrity of seal, product and weight
· Lead order run list and verify quantity, ensure all DAX 365 reporting is completed.
· Monitor and perform routine checks of systems to ensure lines are running smoothly
· Conduct CIP / SIP washes of systems as per SOP and as per Schedule.
· Interact with maintenance and supervisory staff regarding any production issues
· Complete documentation of GMPs, H&S, MSS and HACCP related items
· Maintain accurate and detailed packaging records and perform line checks as required
· Cross-train to learn how to use equipment and machinery in various areas of the plant
· Provide relief coverage for other machine operators/plant helpers
· Food Safety & Quality responsibility as outlined in SOPs & other training materials provided and accurate record keeping
· Attend prescribed courses/training
· Perform the duties of the Shift Supervisor role during Supervisor vacation coverage as follows:
· Schedules staff (both employees and temp workers) according to production requirements, send out shift reports
· Communicates expectations for the shift to Operators – monitors times worked – enters time worked by employees into tracker – completes time sheets for agency personnel – provides orientation for agency personnel – ensures that not too many employees take vacation at the same time – substitutes for Operators as required – communicates with Supervisors on other shift, ensure seamless handover of shift.
· For all production machinery, ensures proper packaging, proper sanitation (equipment and environment), correct codes and labels – monitors reports of Machine Operators – ensures that adequate packaging supplies are available.
· Networks with Milk Receiving, Blending and UHT processors on schedule adherence.
· Monitors inventories daily – identifies potential shortages – orders products as required (created PO, contacts suppliers, places orders, confirms receipt, puts into inventory)
· Daily inspection of building interior and exterior to identify potential Health & Safety hazards – ensures corrective action as required – files report
Daily Shift Report (down times, H&S issues, Staffing abnormalities, any issues out of the ordinary)
· Ensures Quality and Safety are always followed without any deviations.
· Plays an active role in Continuous Improvement, improving efficiencies and cost savings.
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· Working knowledge of GMPs and HACCP, including excellent sanitary habits is required
· Minimum 2 years of machine operating experience, preferably in a food or beverage environment
· Must demonstrate Health & Safety awareness
· Experience with CIP, Aseptic, and ESL packaging preferred
· Mechanical aptitude and trouble shooting ability
· Good communication/interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team
· Self-motivated, detail oriented, and quality conscious
· CPR / First Aid
· Chemical Handling Certification
· Physically capable of performing the demands of the job
· Must be punctual and diligent
· Computer skills and experience working with automated machinery
Working Environment:
Regular exposure to noise, cold temperatures, humidity and dry conditions. Continuous exposure to hazardous machines, moving objects (forklifts) and frequent interruptions. Occasional exposure to dust and extreme temperatures. (Freezer -18 degrees)
Physical Demands:
Standing for extended length of time, sitting and walking for considerable length of time. Moderate lifting of materials up to maximum 60lbs.
