Position Summary
The Kingbridge Centre, a world-class hotel and conference venue is seeking a seasoned Lead Food & Beverage Associate who is responsible for working in collaboration with the Food and Beverage Manager to ensure proper execution of day-to-day operations of the in all aspects of food services and specifically maintenance of continuous service of the public all day break stations in all areas of the building
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To ensure the guests receive friendly, courteous and prompt attention at all times.
2. Must be able to respond to unscheduled requests; swiftly and professionally.
3. Work in a manner consistent with health and safety as it pertains to proper lifting techniques, stacking, handling and carrying procedures for all china, cutlery, and glassware. Use good judgment and common sense when working with, and handling hot items.
4. Reports to work on time, wearing a clean, neatly pressed and in good repair uniform and as per outlined grooming standards in the employee handbook.
5. Will set up all day break service and/or banquet stations in an attractive manner ensuring that the food presentation is appealing, in symmetry, with a sense of proportion and appropriate to the number of guests.
6. Assigned break stations must be fully stocked and re-stocked as necessary and in accordance with set service standards and guest expectations.
7. Will requisition from main storeroom all depleted items as required on a daily basis for the break stations. Items requisitioned must be rotated to avoid unnecessary waste.
8. Provide table service in the dining room, lounge, patios, banquet rooms and meeting rooms of food and beverage items to patrons.
9. At the end of each meal period, ensures that cutlery, china and glassware is polished and clean before using to reset tables or re-stocking it.
10. Maintain a clean working environment, front of the house as well as back of the house, where sanitation, health and safety standards are never compromised.
11. Maintain and clean all equipment following proper procedures for de-staining coffee urns and mugs.
12. Ensure that all food items are stored properly and any left over food garbage is removed appropriately.
13. Assist with evening shifts when needed.
14. Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures.
15. Any other duties as assigned during the course of one’s work shift.
Specifications/Qualifications:
· Must possess good interpersonal skills and must possess the ability to handle guest requests/needs and minor complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
· Must be flexible and co-operative, able to work assigned shifts, including early morning, afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
· Must be physically fit and capable of performing all aspects of the work outlined.
· Must be able to be certified under WHMIS and work under specific guidelines regarding the continuous us and handling of chemicals, cleaning compounds and detergents.
· Must possess reasonable knowledge of how to write and speak English.
· Basic understanding of food and beverage as it pertains to job position.
Working Conditions:
The position requires shift work scheduled within a seven-day week cycle. Shifts may be scheduled to start as early as 5:30am, the last shift would usually conclude around 11:00pm. Employees therefore may be scheduled for early morning, afternoon, evenings and weekend shifts, Statutory holidays and during special holiday celebration periods, as business needs dictate. On this basis, flexibility and co-operation is required.
· Work is primarily inside the Centre, which is air conditioned in the summer and heated in the winter.
· All shifts are subject to business needs/volume and or special events.
· Last minute cancellations and work interruptions may result in shorter or cancelled shifts. A sudden increase in business may result in a slightly longer shift or additional shifts.
Physical Effort:
· Employees will stand, walk, and move around as business levels and workload dictates.
· Required from time to time to lift or carry light to moderate weights, including trays, tables, chairs, coffee urns, cases of fruit, beer, wine, liquor and pop.
· General cleaning duties as necessary including mopping, dusting, wiping down equipment and counter tops etc., (estimated at approximately 2 hours a day)
Mental Effort:
· Must be able to stay focused/constantly supervise break/working areas to ensure that guest expectations are met and where possible exceeded.
· Must be familiar with proper restocking procedures and inventory keeping.
· Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
Written and Verbal Skills:
· Must be able to read C.E.O. information, written food orders, memorandums, and general instructions as they pertain to special events and customer requests.
· Must be able to communicate clearly, professionally and politely with guests and team members.
