Shift Supervisor, you will:
Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations
- Lead and participate in daily start-of-shift meetings to align on priorities and production goals.
- Operate CNC machines and ensure all output meets safety and quality standards.
- Conduct regular walk-throughs to verify work quality and team progress.
- Ensure work orders are accurately documented, photographed, and uploaded per standard procedures.
- Close completed work orders in NetSuite to maintain accurate production records.
- Check in on machine and tool status, escalate as needed.
- Ensure all workstations are prepped and equipped for optimal performance.
Safety & Compliance
- Conduct daily visual safety checks of work areas, forklifts, and PPE compliance.
- Ensure adherence to machine safety protocols and report near-misses or safety hazards.
- Inspect and maintain infeed systems, dust collection units, and bins.
Quality Control
- Perform hourly quality checks to monitor output and ensure conformance.
- Confirm operators follow inspection protocols and reference control samples.
- Escalate quality issues and collaborate with relevant teams for corrective action.
Team Coordination
- Assign tasks based on team member skills, availability, and workload.
- Act as a liaison between departments including Warehouse, Programming, and Assembly.
- Monitor attendance and punctuality, escalating issues as needed.
- Conduct 1-on-1 check-ins using 15Five and approve timesheets in ADP.
Troubleshooting & Support
- Provide hands-on support for machine setup, tool changes, and unexpected issues.
- Assist in verifying CNC programs, setup sheets, and correct revision usage.
- Support operators with program clarification or part interpretation as needed.
Efficiency & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) metrics to identify downtime and inefficiencies.
- Recommend process improvements to increase productivity and machine uptime.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and initiate corrective actions for any visible wear or issues.
- Ensure forklifts and reach equipment are charged and pre-operational checks are completed.
Weekly Responsibilities
- Perform weekly preventive maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, minor adjustments).
- Report equipment irregularities and coordinate with the maintenance team.
- Review shop floor supplies and confirm readiness of tooling and fixtures.
- Participate in weekly production planning and improvement meetings.
- Review and analyze previous week's performance metrics; recommend improvements.
- Provide performance feedback and identify team training needs.
Monthly Responsibilities
- Support and execute monthly machine maintenance routines.
- Collaborate with the Production Manager on long-term maintenance planning.
- Contribute to updates on preventive maintenance schedules and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Must-Have Certifications & Skills:
- Valid First Aid Certification
- Valid Forklift and Reach Truck License
- Proficient in NetSuite, Hubspot, and Google Workspace tools
- Working knowledge of CNC operations, especially 3-axis CNC routers
- Familiar with VCarve or basic CNC programming
- Physically capable of lifting and performing repetitive tasks
- Strong multitasking, organizational, and leadership skills
- Proficiency in all plant functions: Assembly, Boring, CNC, Tapping, Laser Engraving, Wrapping, Distribution
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or custom fabrication environment
- Experience leading teams in a shift or production setting
- Familiarity with performance tracking tools and shop floor communication platforms
Working Conditions
- Shift-based work environment with standing, lifting, and machine operation
- Must wear PPE and comply with all safety protocols
- May require occasional weekend or extended shifts depending on production needs
