About Furniture Bank

Furniture Bank is a registered charity and social enterprise based in Etobicoke. We redistribute gently-used furniture and housewares from donors in the community to families and individuals experiencing furniture poverty or displacement. Our mission is simple: change lives by giving people the stability and dignity of a furnished home. We’ve been doing this since 1998, and we’re scaling.

Overview

Role Type: Full-time, Permanent — Remote

Compensation: $23 per hour

Reports To: Sales Supervisor

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM

Location: Remote — Dedicated home workspace required. In-person at Etobicoke when required.

The Role

At Furniture Bank, we don't just offer a pickup service — we fuel a movement. Every piece of furniture collected generates revenue that moves a family out of displacement and into a home. As a Sales Associate, you aren't an appointment setter. You're a storyteller, a closer, and the frontline of our social enterprise.

Every conversation you have — every inquiry you convert — keeps good furniture out of landfill and puts dignity back into someone's life. That's what's at stake on every call.

Is this role for you? (The honest truth)

Before you apply, read this carefully. This role rewards the right person enormously — but it's not for everyone.

Emotional intelligence: You will speak with people at vulnerable moments — arranging pickups from an estate, a move after displacement, a fresh start after hard times. We don't need customer service robots. We need people with the emotional intelligence to treat every caller with dignity while never losing sight of the outcome that funds our mission.
High-volume multitasking: This isn't a slow-paced boutique. You'll be managing live phone calls, email conversations, and SMS threads simultaneously — coordinating appointments for both pickups and drop-offs. If you get overwhelmed by a ringing phone, this isn't the fit.
Competitive edge: We have targets to hit. Those targets represent beds for children and stability for families in need. You need to be motivated by the close — knowing that every converted inquiry keeps furniture out of landfill and puts dignity back into a home.
AI-forward mindset: We use AI in our day-to-day work to create efficiency and focus our energy where it matters. We're not looking for AI experts — just people who are open to AI being an integral part of how we operate, and willing to learn as our tools evolve.

What you’ll do

Close with purpose: Use your sales skills to convert inquiries into revenue that funds our charitable programmes. Every booked appointment is a direct act of social and environmental good.
Be the voice: Manage high-volume phone, email, and text interactions with care — ensuring every person feels heard and valued from first contact to confirmed appointment.
Bridge the gap: Help donors and customers understand that whether their contribution is financial or a truckload of furniture, it's a direct act of environmental and social good. You make that connection real.
Wear multiple hats: This is not a one-thing-at-a-time desk job. You will juggle live phone calls, respond to texts, and clear an inbox — all while educating a customer about why their furniture removal appointment matters. Salesperson, social advocate, and logistics coordinator: sometimes all at once.

What we need you to bring

Experience & Setup

2+ years of experience in fast-paced inbound sales — phone, SMS, and email. You've worked a busy queue before and you know how to stay sharp through it.
Salesforce CRM proficiency, or demonstrated ability to learn a CRM quickly.
Proven track record of hitting targets in a role where the close matters.
Dedicated, quiet home workspace with reliable internet. This is a remote-first role — your environment matters.

Skills & Attributes

Strong written and spoken English across phone, email, and SMS.
Comfort with technology and an openness to learning AI tools as part of your daily workflow.
