About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) Environment Engineer to help build and scale a modern enterprise data platform powering analytics, governance, and AI initiatives across multiple business domains.
This role sits at the intersection of SAP BDC, SAP BTP, Azure, and Databricks, supporting the design, integration, security, and operation of a scalable, AI-ready enterprise data ecosystem.
This is not a traditional SAP Basis or generic data engineering role. The ideal candidate brings strong SAP data platform expertise combined with modern cloud and lakehouse integration experience.
We are particularly interested in candidates with hands-on experience across SAP BDC/BTP environments who are capable of integrating SAP-origin data into modern analytics and AI platforms such as Databricks.
What You’ll Do
SAP BDC / BTP Platform Engineering
- Build, configure, and manage SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) environments across Dev, QA, Pre-Prod, and Production.
SAP ↔ Databricks Integration
- Design and build pipelines extracting SAP data via BODS, SLT, CDS Views, ODP, APIs, and related SAP integration mechanisms.
- Integrate SAP BDC/BTP with Databricks Delta Lake to support unified lakehouse architecture.
- Develop scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and optimize data ingestion performance.
- Configure replication flows and ingestion pipelines for analytics and AI-ready datasets.
- Enable governed data exposure for APIs, reporting, and AI/ML use cases.
Security, Governance & Operations
- Implement RBAC, data masking, row-level/column-level security, and governance controls.
- Work with governance and cataloging tools such as Microsoft Purview.
- Monitor platform health, logging, pipeline performance, and SLA adherence.
- Support CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep preferred), and multi-environment deployments.
- Support platform upgrades, patching, monitoring, and operational reliability.
- Work within SAP BTP services including Datasphere and Data Intelligence.
- Configure data federation, semantic models, and virtual data views across SAP and non-SAP systems.
- Support SAP environment lifecycle management, transport routes, and deployment pipelines.
- Integrate SAP BDC identity and access with Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD (SSO, MFA).
What You Bring
- 5+ years of experience in enterprise data engineering, platform engineering, or SAP data integration environments.
- Minimum 2+ years hands-on experience with SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC), SAP BTP (Datasphere/Data Intelligence), or SAP-integrated cloud data platforms.
- Proven experience integrating SAP data into Databricks, Azure, or similar modern lakehouse/data platforms.
SAP Data Platform Expertise (Mandatory)
- Hands-on experience with SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) and/or SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
- Experience with SAP Datasphere and/or SAP Data Intelligence.
- Strong understanding of SAP data models (S/4HANA, BW, ECC).
- Experience with SAP data extraction and integration methods including:
- ODP
- SLT
- CDS Views
- BODS
- SAP APIs
Databricks & Azure
- Strong experience with Databricks (Spark / PySpark, Delta Lake).
- Hands-on Azure data stack experience including:
- ADLS Gen2
- Azure Data Factory
- Synapse Analytics
- Experience integrating SAP data into Databricks or similar modern data platforms.
Governance & Engineering
- Strong understanding of RBAC, access controls, data masking, and enterprise security practices.
- Experience with Microsoft Purview or similar governance platforms.
- Experience supporting Dev / QA / Prod environments and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with monitoring, performance tuning, and SLA-driven operations.
Modern Data & AI Exposure
- Exposure to AI/LLM integrations, APIs, or AI-ready data architecture.
- Understanding of modern data platform concepts such as lakehouse architecture and data mesh.
Nice to Have
- Experience with SAP ERP modules such as S/4HANA or EWM.
- Experience working in large enterprise environments with complex integrations.
- Exposure to real-time data pipelines and event-driven architectures.
- Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform or Bicep.
Important Note
This role requires hands-on SAP + Databricks integration experience.
Candidates with only SAP experience or only Databricks/Azure experience will not be considered.

Pay: $90,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
