Position Title: Supply Chain Manager

Key Accountabilities/Activities (summary):
The Supply Chain Manager at Crystal Fountains is responsible for overseeing the supply chain department. The overall purpose of this position is to provide management and leadership in the sourcing of materials and services, procuring of vendors, forecasting, demand planning, inventory management, purchasing management, and implementation of new technologies to improve accuracy and efficiency of procurement and inventory management. Additionally the Supply Chain Manager at Crystal Fountains is responsible for warehousing and logistics management.
The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for the sourcing, warehousing, logistics, customs compliance and movement of products throughout the supply chain.
Crystal Fountains is one of the largest designers and suppliers of premium water feature products in the world. Our products are distributed throughout the world from our 40,000 square foot headquarters and factory in Vaughan, ON. Crystal Fountains is supported with sales offices in Dubai, UAE and Warsaw, Poland.
Major Activities Include:
Process Management
- Manage existing supply chain and implement efficiencies;
- Lead the team on a daily basis including conducting performance reviews, recruiting, KPI development;
- Oversee the inventory team to ensure they are meeting the targets in regards to inventory turns and inventory values;
- Document physical supply chain processes, such as workflows, cycle times, position responsibilities, or system flows;
- Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, benchmarking or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost, delivery times or quality;
- Develop a process to review inventory levels in order to determine how to increase inventory turns, while maintaining a precise safety stock;
- Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning and inventory control;
- Develop and review procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other functional areas, such as sales, design engineering, marketing, finance, production, procurement engineering or quality assurance;
- Design and implement supply chains that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies;
- Evaluate options to automate processes to improve tracking and reporting of materials or products distribution, storage, or inventory;
- Develop supply chain crisis management and supplier backup contingency programs/processes.
- Develop systems to manage and monitor supplier and product data in Crystal’s ERP system (Visual Manufacturing). Country of Origin, HTS codes and other data needed for CUSMA compliance, SABER, SASO and EU importing.
Sourcing and Supplier Management
- Develop metrics and then manage procedures and systems to evaluate or select suppliers;
- Oversee the sourcing team to ensure they are effectively negotiating prices and terms with suppliers, and ocean carriers;
- Meet with suppliers to discuss performance metrics, to provide performance feedback, or to discuss production forecasts or changes;
- Educate suppliers on internal processes to ensure all guidelines are consistently achieved.
- Work with CF Quality Assurance Representative to develop and maintain an adequate source of Approved Suppliers with the required Quality Assurance programs to support Crystal Fountains.
- Expedite purchase orders as needed to support corporate objectives.
- Monitor purchase order status from creation through delivery and communicate appropriate information and updates to the company
- Drive cost reduction strategies while maintaining quality and delivery standards
Demand Planning/Forecasting
- Monitor and review forecasts to identify changes or to determine their effect on supply chain activities;
- Confer with Sales and inventory management staff to forecast demand or create supply plans that ensure availability of materials or products;
- Build processes and controls for the inventory team to follow to ensure shipments arrive on time to meet customers’ required delivery date;
- Manage the operational inventory to ensure adequate stocking levels for immediate production items and forecasting for future requirements;
- Lead in cost-saving initiatives;
Warehousing and Logistics Management
- Manage a warehouse of approximately 16,000 line items in a safe and cost efficient manner.
- Supervise incoming inspection/ receiving function with support from the Quality Representative and Engineering.
- Ensure logistics team is selecting transportation routes to maximize economy by efficiently maximizing cargo weight restraints.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- PMAC accreditation (CPP) or Logistics Professional (P.Log)
- 10 plus years of experience in purchasing, import, export, distribution, inventory and warehousing operational procedures.
- Experience in working with Global suppliers, including China, India and Mexico
- 3 to 5 years managerial experience
- Engineering/technical background a plus
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with an ability to multitask
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project
- Demonstrated strong skills in supply chain management, negotiation, supplier development, and program management
- Demonstrated ability to understand product development from inception to finished product release, including communication of engineering design concepts, vendor contract negotiation, timeline management and production scheduling for domestic and international manufacturers
- Ability to analyze data and make sound decisions in a fast paced environment
- Operate with an entrepreneurial mindset and with a sense of urgency
