Responsibilities:
- Perform abrasive blasting to remove rust, paint, and other contaminants from metal surfaces & other forms of substrates.
- Apply industrial coatings using spray, brush, or roller methods according to specifications.
- Inspect surfaces and finished work to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Operate and maintain sandblasting and painting equipment.
- Follow all safety protocols, including PPE usage and confined space procedures.
- Work collaboratively with other trades and team members in a unionized environment.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Participate in on-the-job training and safety courses provided, where applicable.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No prior experience required; training will be provided by the Local Union.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Physical ability to perform tasks that require heavy lifting, climbing, working at heights, and confined spaces.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols (on-the-job training to be provided).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Reliable transportation to various job sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in industrial sandblasting and painting is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with surface preparation standards (e.g., SSPC/NACE) is considered an asset.
- Basic understanding of construction principles.
- Experience in manual labour or outdoor work.
