Key Assets Nova Scotia (KANS) provides alternate care along with a wide variety of programming and other services to support children, youth, families, and communities. Working in partnership with statutory bodies, KANS strives to develop creative and innovative trauma-informed programs for the provision of unique and supportive services, tailored to meet the needs of children, youth, families, and communities, and designed to work towards improving outcomes. Child and Youth Care Worker(s)
Full-time and Part-time Positions Available
We are looking for innovative and creative Child and Youth Care Workers to provide care, supervision, and support to children and youth with complex needs. The work is varied and will include relationship building, planning, and participating in social and recreational activities including land-based activities, teaching life skills, providing educational supports and developing and implementing individualized intervention plans.
The successful applicant(s) must be confident, energetic, adaptable, patient, self-aware, physically active, and able to safely intervene in crisis situations. Shift work, including weekends, is required.
Education & Experience:
To be successful in this role, the candidate is required to have a diploma in Child and Youth Care, or a degree in psychology (or related discipline) from a recognized university, as well as experience working with children and youth with emotional/behavioral difficulties, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
In addition, successful candidates MUST be able to provide proof of the following before hiring can be completed:
- Required diplomas/degrees
- Clear Police Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector)
- Clear Child Abuse Registry Check
- Valid Driver's License
- Clear Driver's Abstract
- A personal vehicle you can use for work
- Vehicle insurance, including $2,000,000 third-party liability coverage
- Standard First Aid/CPR certification
- Food Safety of Food Handler's certificate
- Valid proof of ability to work in Canada
Key Assets Offers:
- Competitive salary. Full Time starts at $24.57 per hour and Part Time starts at $22.07 per hour.
