Job Description
AECOM is looking for a Entry-Level Electrical Engineer to join our growing Buildings + Places team in Burnaby, British-Columbia.
In this newly created role, you will support senior engineers and project teams in delivering electrical designs for a variety of building projects, gaining hands-on experience throughout all phases of design and construction. As an Engineer in Training or early-career professional, you will have the opportunity to apply your technical knowledge while developing your expertise in building electrical systems design.
Key Responsibilities
Design Support
-
Assist in the design of electrical systems for buildings, including: power distribution systems, lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm systems, low-voltage systems (communications, security, etc.)

Help prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and design documentation

Perform basic electrical calculations (e.g., load calculations, panel schedules)

Support Revit/BIM modeling and AutoCAD drafting
Project Coordination

Work closely with intermediate and senior engineers to support project delivery

Coordinate with other disciplines (mechanical, architectural, structural) under guidance
-
Participate in internal design meetings and team discussions
Codes & Standards
-
Learn and apply relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., Canadian Electrical Code)

Ensure designs align with project requirements and industry practices

Stay informed on engineering best practices and emerging technologies
Construction Phase Support
-
Assist with: Shop drawing reviews, Responding to RFIs (Requests for Information) Site visits and field reviews (with supervision)

Support commissioning and project closeout activities
Professional Development
-
Actively work toward developing technical knowledge and design skills
-
Pursue Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation (if not already obtained)

Participate in mentorship and training opportunities within the team
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution (or equivalent)

Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles and building systems
