What you can expect:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Lawyer to join and help grow our Estate Planning & Administration practice group in Vancouver and West Vancouver. This role is well suited to a lawyer who has begun to establish their own practice and is looking for a dynamic, well‑resourced firm to continue growing. The successful candidate will benefit from the full breadth of the firm’s resources, including in-house marketing and business development support, a strong referral base, and an exceptional team of legal support professionals.
In addition to working collaboratively with Partners, Associate Counsel and senior Associates on complex and interesting files, this role will continue to help curate your own practice and foster growing client relationships. This is an opportunity for a lawyer who enjoys contributing their experience, judgment, and leadership to a busy practice, and who values being part of a collegial team that supports both individual and collective success.
Some of the core responsibilities of the role will include, but not be limited to:
- Managing and growing your estate planning and administration practice
- Close collaboration with other lawyers of the firm
- Client relationship management and trusted-advisor engagement
- Business development and practice growth initiatives
- Community involvement and professional leadership
- Providing guidance and mentorship to associates, juniors and support staff
- Collaborating across offices, including travel between Downtown Vancouver and West Vancouver offices
What You Bring to the Table:
- 5–6+ year call with dedicated estate planning and estate administration experience
- Demonstrated experience advising clients independently and managing files end-to-end
- Proven ability to work effectively with partners, junior lawyers, and support staff
- Experience in the following areas:
- Incapacity Planning, including:
- Powers of Attorney
- Representation Agreements
- Advanced Healthcare Directives
- Wills & Estate Planning, including:
- Wills
- Trusts
- Probate and Tax considerations
- Wealth Management
- Estate Administration, including:
- Probate/Administration matters
- Trust administration
- Working with Executors and Trustees
- Advising Beneficiaries
- Disability & Dependents Planning
- STEP designation is an asset
Compensation:
While compensation is commensurate with experience, the base annual salary range for candidates with the required experience is expected to be $145,000 – $155,000+. This position is eligible for a significant bonus subject to meeting the requirements of the bonus policy.
