Full job description

Job Summary:

The HR Director will serve as the strategic link between the HR team and Senior Leadership with Community Builders. This full-time role oversees HR operations, policies, and compliance, particularly in a unionized environment, while providing guidance on performance management, recruitment and employee relations. The HR Director ensures alignment with organizational goals and employment legislation, supports HR team development, and acts as a trusted advisor to leadership.

Position type: Permanent Full-Time

Functions & Responsibilities:

Act as the primary liaison between the HR team and Senior Leadership, ensuring alignment on organizational priorities and people strategies.
Oversee the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and ensure compliance with Collective Agreements and applicable legislation.
Lead performance management processes and provide strategic direction on employee relations matters.
Advise leadership on complex workplace issues and support effective conflict resolution.
Provide oversight and guidance on workplace injury claims, including WCB (WorkSafeBC) processes, ensuring timely and compliant case management.
Support and advise on Collective Agreement interpretation, including grievance management, investigations, and resolution in collaboration with union representatives.
Provide risk management advice on sensitive and complex HR matters, including workplace investigations and organizational liability.
Support and/or lead responses to external legal matters, including Human Rights Tribunal complaints and other employment-related proceedings.
Support the development of the HR team through coaching, mentorship, and capacity-building initiatives.
Lead and execute strategic HR functions, including compensation and benefits, performance management, training and development, occupational health and safety, employee communications, employee experience, and employee relations.
Ensure organizational alignment with employment legislation, human rights standards, and HR best practices.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in HR Management, Business Administration, or a related field
CPHR designation preferred.
3–5 years’ experience as an HR Director or senior HR leadership role
Experience working in unionized environment (BCGEU Preferred)
Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to work independently and manage HR priorities in a part-time capacity

Pay: $115,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
