Assistant Plant Manager - Seafood Processing
Location: Greater Vancouver, BC
Compensation: $85,000 - $95,000 per year DOE, plus annual performance bonus, RRSP matching program, and comprehensive benefits package.
About the Opportunity
A well-established and highly respected seafood processing operation is seeking an Assistant Plant Manager to join its leadership team.
Working directly alongside the Plant Manager, this is a highly visible and hands-on leadership role supporting the day-to-day operation of a high-volume seafood processing facility.
The successful candidate will gain exposure to all aspects of plant operations, including production, labour management, inventory control, quality assurance, food safety, logistics, customer service, and operational planning.
This is not a desk-only management role. You will be actively involved on the production floor, throughout the facility, and working closely with employees, suppliers, customers, and leadership teams.
For the right individual, this role offers a unique opportunity to learn directly from an experienced and highly tenured Plant Manager while building the operational and leadership skills required for increasing levels of responsibility over time.

This position is specifically intended for candidates with previous seafood processing plant experience.
Applicants without direct experience working within a seafood processing facility are unlikely to be considered.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assist the Plant Manager with the day-to-day operation of the facility.
- Support production planning, labour allocation, scheduling, and operational execution.
- Work closely with production, quality assurance, maintenance, warehouse, and logistics teams.
- Assist with seafood receiving, inventory management, shipping, and product movement activities.
- Support employee supervision, coaching, training, and performance management.
- Help maintain food safety, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and workplace safety standards.
- Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in problem-solving, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with customer service, supplier coordination, and operational issue resolution.
- Lead by example and support a positive workplace culture.
Required Experience
- Previous experience working within a seafood processing facility.
- Previous leadership experience as a Supervisor, Team Lead, Production Supervisor, Assistant Manager, Operations Supervisor, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of seafood processing operations, production workflows, quality standards, and food safety requirements.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Hands-on management style and willingness to support operations wherever required.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Seafood production leadership experience.
- Inventory, warehouse, shipping, and receiving experience.
- HACCP, SQF, BRC, CFIA, or food safety experience.
- Forklift certification or forklift operating experience.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.
