Full job description

Since 1991, Burrard Transport has provided reliable same-day pickup and delivery service throughout Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. We are a fast-paced operation that values accountability, communication, and smart decision-making.

We are currently seeking an experienced dispatcher to join our team at our Port Coquitlam office.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for running your own board, building efficient pickup and delivery routes, monitoring live jobs, managing time-sensitive deliveries, and proactively communicating with customers and drivers when issues arise.

This role is not entry-level. You must be comfortable making real-time decisions in a high-volume environment and coordinating closely with other dispatchers to balance workload across multiple boards.

Key Responsibilities

Build and manage same-day pickup and delivery routes
Monitor delivery times and proactively troubleshoot delays
Communicate clearly with drivers and customers throughout the day
Coordinate work between multiple dispatcher boards
Support drivers with route planning and problem-solving
Maintain accurate job notes and system updates

Qualifications

Minimum 2+ years same-day P&D dispatch experience (Not Amazon, Towing, Taxi)
Proven ability to perform in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
Strong knowledge of Vancouver and the Lower Mainland
Experience dispatching couriers, cube vans, and/or flat deck trucks
Comfortable using dispatch software, maps, and multiple systems at once
Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Customer service experience considered an asset
