Job Summary :
The Senior Architectural Designer is responsible for leading the design and development of rehabilitation projects from concept through construction while providing mentorship and oversight to junior designers. The role involves producing high-quality design solutions, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with building codes, client requirements, and sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities :
Technical & Project Work
- Lead the preparation of architectural and technical drawings, plans, and details using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Oversee design development of building envelope systems for remediation and new construction projects.
- Review and refine technical drawings for accuracy, clarity, and code compliance.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and external consultants across disciplines.
- Guide the creation of permit, tender, and construction document packages.
- Conduct and document site visits, including field reviews and as-built drawing updates.
- Ensure designs meet the BC Building Code (especially Parts 3, 5, and 9), municipal requirements, and industry best practices.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to junior designers and/or technologists.
- Lead internal drawing reviews, ensuring quality and consistency across all projects.
- Ensure compliance with use of internal drafting standards, templates, and documentation protocols.
- Support training initiatives, including onboarding of new team members.
- Promote continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the design team.
Qualifications :
- Degree or diploma in Architectural Technology, Building Science, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in architectural or engineering design, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Registration with AIBC as an intern architect or architect is an asset.
- Expert proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit and BIM experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of building envelope systems and construction practices in BC
- Familiarity with multi-unit residential, commercial, and institutional buildings.
- Deep understanding of BC Building Code (Parts 3, 5, and 9).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, lead, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.

In compliance with the B.C. Pay Transparency Act, the expected salary range for this position is between $80,000 - $110,000*.
- Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.
