We are seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Commentary Tour Driver Guide for the seasonal tour program. This role involves leading guided tours, providing informative commentary, and ensuring an enjoyable experience for visitors. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a friendly demeanor, and the ability to manage time effectively. We operate a couple of full-day guided tours departing daily from downtown Vancouver on luxury Prevost motorcoaches. We are hiring two experienced Commentary Tour Driver Guides to complete our 2026 season.
THE ROUTES
Victoria & Butchart Gardens
Our most popular tour. A full-day experience departing downtown Vancouver, crossing through the Gulf Islands on BC Ferries, and arriving in Victoria for free time in the Inner Harbour and two hours at the world-renowned Butchart Gardens. Returns approximately 9:30 PM.
- BC Ferries crossing through the Gulf Islands
- 2 hours at Butchart Gardens (admission included)
- Free time in downtown Victoria and the Inner Harbour
- Hotel pickup route through downtown Vancouver
- One-way Victoria passengers accommodated
Sea to Sky & Whistler Village
A BC bucket list experience. North through some of the most dramatic scenery in North America -- Horseshoe Bay, the Sea to Sky Highway, Shannon Falls, and the Sea to Sky Gondola -- arriving in Whistler Village for four hours of free time. Returns approximately 7:00 to 7:30 PM.
- Sea to Sky Gondola ride included (885m elevation)
- Shannon Falls Provincial Park stop
- 4 hours free time in Whistler Village
- Overnight stays accommodated at no extra fee
- Hotel pickup route through downtown Vancouver
EARNINGS
- Daily driver guide rate: Up to $480 per day
- Gratuities from guests: Variable -- typically significant on tour routes
- Season length: August 1 – October 31, 2026 (13 weeks)
Gratuities on guided coach tours of this calibre are a meaningful part of total compensation. Experienced guides regularly earn significantly above the daily rate through guest appreciation.
THE ROLE
This is not a standard charter driving assignment. You are the host, the storyteller, the local expert, and the calm voice that makes the customer experience memorable. You drive a luxury Prevost motorcoach. You deliver professional commentary throughout the day. You represent British Columbia to the world.
On the Road:
- Drive a luxury Prevost motorcoach safely and professionally through downtown Vancouver, the Sea to Sky corridor, and Vancouver Island
- Deliver engaging, accurate, and entertaining live commentary throughout the full tour
- Execute hotel pickup routes through downtown Vancouver, collecting guests from major hotels including the Fairmont Waterfront, Hyatt Regency, Sutton Place, and others
- Board and deboard passengers safely, answering their questions
- Navigate BC Ferries boarding procedures and keep guests informed of what they will experience throughout the crossing
- Manage tour timing to hit all stops and return guests on schedule
With Guests:
- Welcome guests warmly and set the tone for the day from the first pickup
- Provide clear and accurate information about pickup times, tour itineraries, and ferry schedules
- Handle questions, concerns, and real-time changes with calm professionalism
- Support guests with mobility considerations, special requests, and language barriers
- Represent Pacific Coach Travel Services and The Perimeter Group with professionalism at all times
With the Team:
- Maintain clear communication with dispatch and guest services throughout the day
- Report any operational issues, incidents, or guest concerns promptly
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain the coach to Perimeter's high standards
- Submit accurate manifests, receipts, logs, and paperwork as required
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required:
- Valid BC Class 2 Driver's License (or equivalent) with a clean abstract
- Proven experience driving motorcoaches or large passenger vehicles professionally
- Experience delivering live commentary or guided tours to passengers
- Excellent spoken English -- clear, engaging, and warm at the microphone
- Strong knowledge of the Vancouver, Victoria, and Whistler regions
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
Strong Assets:
- Previous experience on Victoria, Whistler, or similar BC guided tour routes
- Familiarity with BC Ferries operations and scheduling
- Second language -- our guests come from around the world
- Experience with international guest groups including cruise ship passengers
- First Aid certification is an asset
