Custom Millwork/ Cabinetry Installer
Senior Level Full-Time 5+ Years’ Experience Required
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Custom Millwork Installer to deliver flawless installations of high-end architectural millwork and cabinetry in luxury residential and commercial settings. This is a senior, client-facing role for a true craftsperson: you will handle bespoke, one-of-a-kind pieces — custom kitchens, wardrobes and closets, wall paneling, libraries, wine rooms, vanities, and built-in furniture — where tolerances are measured in fractions of an inch and the finished product must be perfect.
You will work from detailed shop drawings in occupied, finished homes and job sites, coordinating with project managers, designers, general contractors, and other trades to complete installations on schedule and to an exacting standard of quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Install high-end custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, paneling, trim, and built-in furniture to exact tolerances per shop drawings and specifications.
- Perform precise field measurements and site verifications; identify and communicate discrepancies between site conditions and drawings before they become problems.
- Scribe, fit, and level casework to out-of-square, out-of-plumb site conditions while maintaining consistent reveals, gaps, and alignment.
- Execute finish-quality cuts, miters, and joinery on site using track saws, miter saws, routers, and hand tools.
- Install hardware and accessories: concealed hinges, drawer slides (including soft-close and push-to-open systems), integrated lighting, pulls, locks, and specialty fittings.
- Handle, protect, and install delicate finished goods — veneered panels, lacquered and painted finishes, stone, glass, and metal accents — without damage.
- Coordinate with electricians, plumbers, stone fabricators, and appliance installers for integrated elements.
- Perform final adjustments, touch-ups, and punch-list items; conduct quality walk-throughs prior to client handoff.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and protected job site in occupied luxury residences; treat clients’ homes with the utmost respect and discretion.
- Document progress with photos and installation reports; communicate daily status to project management.
- Mentor junior installers and helpers when assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience installing custom millwork, high-end cabinetry, or architectural woodwork — luxury residential experience strongly preferred.
- Expert ability to read and interpret shop drawings, elevations, sections, and hardware schedules.
- Mastery of finish carpentry techniques: scribing, coping, mitering, leveling, shimming, and template-making.
- Proficiency with the full range of installation tools: track saws, laser levels, miter saws, routers, domino/biscuit joiners, and precision measuring instruments.
- Deep knowledge of casework construction, panel products, veneers, solid wood movement, and finish types.
- Proven ability to problem-solve in the field and adapt installations to real-world site conditions.
- Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills for work in clients’ homes alongside designers and general contractors.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; ability to travel to job sites, including occasional overnight travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with European frameless cabinetry systems and hardware (Blum, Hettich, Häfele, Salice or similar).
- Experience installing integrated LED lighting systems, glass doors, and specialty materials (metal, stone, leather, upholstered panels).
- Trade certification, apprenticeship completion, or equivalent formal training in carpentry or cabinetmaking.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to lift and maneuver up to 100 lbs with assistance; frequent lifting of 25–50 lbs.
- Prolonged standing, kneeling, bending, and working overhead; comfortable working on ladders and scaffolding.
- Work performed in active construction sites and occupied finished residences; strict site-protection and cleanliness standards apply.
- Full-time schedule, typically Monday–Friday; occasional extended hours to meet installation deadlines.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly rate: $30–$45 per hour, commensurate with experience and demonstrated skill level.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
