The Team
The Timber Pricing & Authorizations Team is an established group made up of two District Scaling Officers, five forest professionals, and a team supervisor who work together to support fair and accurate timber pricing and authorizations. As part of this team, District Scaling Officers contribute their expertise while collaborating with colleagues across other districts, regional offices, and branch staff. The team values diverse experience, shared problem‑solving, and supporting one another to deliver work that has a significant impact on ensuring timber is properly tenured, priced, scaled, and billed.
The Role
In this role, you will work closely with another Scaling Officer to complete scale site inspections, conduct check scales, resolve data anomalies, and support the district’s waste and residue program. Your work plays an important part in maintaining the integrity of the provincial scaling system, helping to reduce revenue risk and ensure Crown timber is billed accurately and fairly. This opportunity offers meaningful work in a diverse and active district, supported by modern technology and plenty of time in the field.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Valid Scaler Licence with required endorsements.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
- Scaling operational experience.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Interior Scaling operational experience.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This is a temporary opportunity until July 31, 2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
