KITCHEN & FLOORING SALES & DESIGN ASSOCIATE — HELP CUSTOMERS BRING THEIR IDEAS HOME
Do you have a natural talent for connecting with people, understanding what they need, and helping them make confident decisions?
My client, a respected and long-established home improvement and building supply retailer, is seeking a Kitchen & Flooring Sales & Design Associate to join its Vernon, BC team.
This is an opportunity to combine relationship-based sales, creativity, and project coordination in a role where you can see each customer’s vision take shape. You’ll guide homeowners and contractors through flooring, cabinetry, countertops, and related selections—then coordinate the details from the first conversation through project completion.
Although kitchen design experience is a significant asset, you do not need to arrive as a trained kitchen designer. If you bring proven consultative sales ability, strong customer instincts, attention to detail, and an interest in renovation or interior design, we will provide training on 2020 Design software and our products and processes.
ABOUT THE EMPLOYER
This locally owned and operated business has built its reputation on quality products, trusted expertise, exceptional customer service, and strong community relationships. Its success comes from helping homeowners and contractors find practical solutions and from creating a supportive, respectful, and accountable workplace where collaboration, professional growth, and pride in excellent work matter.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Kitchen & Flooring Sales & Design Associate, you will build relationships with customers, uncover their project goals, recommend practical and attractive solutions, prepare quotations, close sales, and coordinate projects from consultation through completion.
This is a hands-on consultative sales role for someone who enjoys both people and details: listening carefully, offering knowledgeable guidance, following up consistently, and keeping multiple projects moving accurately and on schedule.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
· Proactively welcome customers and create an engaging, professional showroom experience.
· Ask thoughtful questions to understand each customer’s needs, style, budget, timeline, and project goals.
· Recommend flooring, cabinetry, countertops, and related products that suit the customer’s project.
· Prepare accurate quotations and guide customers confidently toward purchasing decisions.
· Follow up on quotes and inquiries to convert opportunities into completed projects and long-term customer relationships.
· Learn and use 2020 Design software to create kitchen layouts and project concepts.
· Help customers select colours, finishes, cabinetry, flooring, countertops, and complementary products.
· Prepare accurate layouts, specifications, product orders, deposits, and project documentation.
· Coordinate timelines and communications with customers, suppliers, receiving, purchasing, administration, and warehouse teams.
· Maintain organized, attractive, and customer-ready showroom displays.
· Stay current on products, design trends, promotions, and opportunities to grow the department.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
· Two to four years of experience in retail sales, customer service, home improvement, renovation, or a related field is preferred.
· Demonstrated success in consultative, solution-based, or relationship-driven sales.
· The ability to build trust, uncover customer needs, and confidently ask for the sale.
· Strong organization and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage several customer projects at once.
· Careful attention to measurements, quotations, orders, specifications, and customer documentation.
· Strong computer proficiency and the ability to learn new software and technology quickly.
· Professional communication, initiative, accountability, and a collaborative approach.
· Experience with kitchens, flooring, cabinetry, interior products, residential renovation, or 2020 Design software is an asset—not a requirement.
· An interest in interior design, decorating, or helping customers transform their homes.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
· Starting salary of $46,000 annually.
· Full-time position.
· Extended health benefits, with 50% of premiums paid by the employer.
· RRSP matching up to 3% after three months of continuous employment.
· Vacation pay at 4%, increasing with service.
· Training on 2020 Design software, products, and internal processes.
· A varied role that combines customer relationships, sales, design, and project coordination.
· A supportive, respectful, and community-minded team environment.
· Opportunities to grow into supervisory, department management, or other retail sales leadership roles based on performance and demonstrated potential.
