About Rising Stars
Rising Stars Tutoring is a Victoria-based tutoring company focused on helping students build confidence, motivation, and stronger academic results through personalized, emotionally intelligent tutoring.
We primarily support high school and early university students in subjects like math, statistics, and sciences, while continuing to expand into new subjects, partnerships, and learning support services. Our approach is built around passionate tutors, strong student relationships, clear communication, and individualized support.
We are now looking for a Marketing & Growth Coordinator to help us grow demand through word-of-mouth strategy, Google Search Ads, and local partnerships.
About the role
This is not a basic social media or admin role. You will work directly with the founder on marketing strategy, campaign planning, and practical implementation.
The role will involve a mix of creative thinking, structured planning, and hands-on execution. You will help design and implement strategies that bring in more leads, strengthen referrals, improve Google Ads performance, and build local partnerships with schools, businesses, and community organizations.
This is a strong fit for someone interested in marketing, entrepreneurship, education, and small-business growth.
Key responsibilities
Word-of-mouth and referral growth: You will help develop and implement strategies that encourage more families, students, and tutors to refer others to The Rising Stars Tutoring.
This may include:
- Creating a word-of-mouth growth plan
- Brainstorming and testing referral strategies
- Designing referral materials, email copy, or simple campaign assets
- Helping identify “above and beyond” client experiences that make people more likely to recommend the business
- Tracking referral rates and recommending improvements
Google Search Ads: You will help improve and manage Google Search Ads campaigns focused on tutoring demand in Victoria.
This may include:
- Reviewing campaign performance
- Helping write and test ad copy
- Monitoring clicks, impressions, conversions, and lead quality
- Suggesting improvements to keywords, landing pages, and campaign structure
- Creating a Google Ads improvement plan and helping implement it
Some Google Ads experience is preferred, but additional training and guidance can be provided.
Partnerships and local growth: You will help identify and pursue partnership opportunities with local schools, businesses, and community organizations.
This may include:
- Building a list of potential school and business partners
- Researching local organizations that serve students or parents
- Drafting outreach emails and partnership materials
- Helping develop partnership offers that are valuable to both sides
- Tracking partnership leads and follow-ups
What we’re looking for
The ideal candidate is strategic, creative, organized, and comfortable taking initiative.
You do not need to be an expert in every area, but you should be interested in how marketing actually drives business growth.
Strong candidates will have:
- Some marketing experience, coursework, or project experience
- Strong creativity and business judgment
- Interest in entrepreneurship, education, and small-business growth
- Good writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a mostly remote role
- Strong organization and follow-through
- Comfort brainstorming, testing ideas, and improving based on results
- An outgoing, proactive approach to partnership and growth opportunities
Preferred but not required:
- Experience with Google Ads
- Business, marketing, or entrepreneurship coursework
- Experience working with small businesses, education organizations, or service-based businesses
Eligibility
Because this role may be supported through Venture for Canada funding, applicants must:
- Be enrolled part-time or full-time at a Canadian post-secondary institution
- Hold Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or refugee status
- Be eligible to work in Canada
International students are not eligible for this funding-supported role.
Work structure
This is a part-time employee role at 10–20 hours per week. Work will be mostly asynchronous, with a weekly check-in meeting to review priorities, progress, and results.
You will be expected to track your hours, summarize completed work, and connect your time to specific tasks or deliverables. The focus will be on meaningful progress, not constant supervision.
Duration
The role is expected to run from late August 2026 to late January 2027, with the possibility of extension depending on performance, business needs, and funding availability.
Location
The role is primarily remote, but preference will be given to candidates based in Victoria, BC, because local knowledge will be useful for school partnerships, community outreach, and understanding the target market.
What success looks like
By the end of the role, the Marketing & Growth Coordinator should have helped create measurable progress in areas such as:
- More tutoring leads
- Improved Google Ads clicks, impressions, and conversions
- Stronger referral systems
- More partnership leads with schools or local organizations
- Practical marketing materials that can continue being used after the role ends
- Clear recommendations for future growth
