Job Description:
Accountabilities:
*The incumbent may perform all, some, or a similar range of duties.*
1. Leadership & Continuous Improvement
-
Provide leadership and oversight for warehouse, recycling, logistics, and supply chain functions.
-
Ensure consistent execution of NRO standards, policies, procedures, and initiatives across all assigned DRCs.
-
Monitor performance through regular site audits, reporting, and KPI reviews; develop corrective action plans where needed.
-
Analyze performance metrics, financial reports, productivity trends, and service levels to support data-driven decisions.
-
Lead process improvement projects and organizational initiatives that enhance efficiency, productivity, donor experience, and sustainability.

Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and innovation.
-
Stay current on industry trends, warehousing technologies, and supply chain best practices, identifying opportunities for enhancement.

Establish, monitor, and evaluate benchmarks to drive performance improvement across the area of operation.
2. Warehouse, Logistics & Supply Chain
-
Oversee warehouse operations including inventory flow, logistics coordination, recycling activities, and related reporting.
-
Ensure accurate, timely, and efficient management of inventory, space utilization, product flow, and records.
-
Review, develop, and implement policies and procedures to improve safety, productivity, efficiency, and service delivery.
-
Support preventative maintenance planning for warehouse equipment and fleet assets; recommend interim solutions to minimize downtime.
-
Ensure all shipping, receiving, inventory, recycling, and related documentation is completed accurately and maintained appropriately.

Monitor security, loss prevention, fraud prevention, and risk controls across assigned locations.

Generate, review, and present DRC KPI updates and business analysis to senior leadership.

Support annual budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and business case development.
-
Recommend resource allocations, staffing adjustments, equipment investments, and facility improvements as needed.
-
Maintain productive relationships with vendors, donors, suppliers, contractors, and external service providers.
-
Collaborate with other DRC Managers to ensure continuity of supply, consistency, and resource sharing across the network.

Ensure stores are supplied efficiently and effectively to support business objectives.
3. People Leadership & Safety
-
Provide direction, coaching, and support to DRC supervisors, staff, and volunteers.
-
Build and sustain a positive, respectful, safe, and high-performing workplace culture.
-
Lead workforce planning to support current requirements and future growth.
-
Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and manage employee and volunteer performance in accordance with legislation and Salvation Army policies.
-
Support leadership development and succession planning within the DRC.
-
Facilitate ongoing safety, compliance, and leadership training initiatives.
-
Ensure compliance with all applicable workplace legislation, including Occupational Health & Safety requirements, WSIB regulations, Ministry of Labour standards, and internal policies.

Conduct or support workplace investigations, corrective actions, and incident follow-up as required.
-
Participate in employee relations matters including performance management, grievances, labour relations, and arbitrations as needed.

Stay current on warehousing, logistics, and transportation safety standards; recommend improvements to equipment, processes, and training programs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
-
This is a Permanent Full Time Position.
-
Work is performed across warehouse, office, retail, and outdoor environments.
-
Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, moving equipment, and physical labour.
-
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting required; occasionally lifting to 40 lbs.
-
Occasional travel within the area of operation to audit store delivery is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
-
Post-secondary diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
-
Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
-
Forklift certification is an asset; current First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
Experience
-
Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in warehouse, logistics, supply chain, transportation, recycling, distribution, or a related environment.
-
Demonstrated experience leading multi-site operations and managing diverse teams.
-
Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, logistics, fleet management, and safety practices.
-
Experience with KPI reporting, business analysis, budgeting, and continuous improvement.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and warehouse or supply chain management systems.
-
For DRCs with Unions, experience in a unionized environment is required.

MISSION & COMPLIANCE

Managerial Responsibility:

Reports directly to: National Director, Senior Distribution and Recycling Management

Provides leadership and oversight within the DRC.

May manage 20+ employees including administrative staff, supervisors, and managers.

Responsible for the full employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, supervision, and performance management.
Financial and Materials Management:

Oversight of significant assets and material resources within assigned DRC operations.

Oversees recycling sales activities and related reporting across assigned locations.
-
Supports inventory control, asset management, and budget adherence.
-
Participates in forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning; supports audit preparation and liaises with auditors and funding stakeholders as required.
Provides recommendations on investments, resource allocation, and cost efficiencies

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $58,531.20 to $73,174.40 with a maximum of $87,817.60.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
