Job Summary
The Director of Production is accountable for end‑to‑end manufacturing operations, including plant leadership, production planning, workforce management, safety compliance, technology adoption, and field integration. The successful candidate will be a leader who understands manufacturing realities, respects field constraints, and can bring structure, innovation, and accountability to a complex production environment.
Reporting to the Executive Vice-President, the Director of Production provides both strategic and hands-on leadership to drive operational stability, scalability, and modernization across the manufacturing function. The successful candidate will bring a deep understanding of high-volume production, lean manufacturing, and automation, with the ability to optimize processes, implement technology, and build high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities
Production & Facility
- Oversee day‑to‑day manufacturing operations, including labour planning, scheduling, and throughput optimization.
- Ensure production output aligns with installation sequencing and construction schedules.
- Maintain equipment uptime, facility readiness, and safe working environments.
- Implement cost‑efficient production strategies and continuous‑improvement methodologies, consistent with industry leaders in manufacturing operations.
Field & Operations
- Serve as the operational bridge between factory production and on‑site construction teams.
- Align production sequencing with field conditions, delivery timing, and installation constraints.
- Strengthen communication loops to reduce rework, delays, and coordination inefficiencies.
- Support field teams through improved planning accuracy and responsive problem‑solving.
Quality Assurance, Process Innovation, & Technology
- Maintain and enforce rigorous quality‑control standards, reflecting millwork industry expectations for precision fabrication.
- Track, analyze, and improve KPIs including quality, throughput, rework, and schedule adherence.
- Champion Lean, standardized work, and data‑driven decision‑making in the plant.
- Implement technology solutions that enhance forecasting, scheduling, material flow, and shop‑floor visibility.
- Support the practical adoption of ERP enhancements, automation, and AI‑enabled optimization tools.
- Introduce systems aligned with leading manufacturing director trends toward digital modernization.
Capital Planning & Equipment
- Plan, budget, and implement capital upgrades including equipment, facility improvements, and capacity‑expansion projects.
- Manage project schedules and ensure ROI expectations are met with minimal disruption.
Safety, Compliance, & COR
- Lead a proactive safety culture and ensure COR certification is attained and maintained.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company safety practices.
- Investigate safety incidents and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Adherence to WorkSafeBC requirements, including recover‑at‑work practices
- Adherence to internal manuals and standard operating procedures
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Manufacturing, Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, or Wood Products), Operations Management, or a related field
- 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing, with at least 5–7 years in a senior production leadership role
- Proven experience in high-volume cabinetry, millwork, or related manufacturing environments (e.g., casegoods, modular or furniture production)
- Demonstrated success leading multi-department production teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong leadership capability with a track record of building high-performing teams, coaching supervisors, and driving accountability
- Proven ability to own and improve key production KPIs, including OEE, labour efficiency, scrap/rework, and on-time delivery
- Strong working knowledge of modern woodworking equipment (CNC routers, beam saws, edge banders, automated finishing systems) and production technologies
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of millwork quality standards and precision fabrication requirements.
- Strong understanding of millwork/cabinetry or custom manufacturing workflows.
- Ability to lead and motivate production teams and supervisors.
- Ability to align production sequencing with construction/installation schedules.
- Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC requirements and COR certification standards.
- Clear, concise communicator (both written and verbal).
Pay Range: $109,000 - $150,000 (final compensation will be based on experience, skill set, and alignment with the role, and may fall outside of this range)
