Full job description

You’re a creative and innovative culinary leader who leads by example. As the Executive Chef at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, you’ll oversee all culinary operations and play a key role in delivering an exceptional guest experience. Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll lead and develop kitchen teams, manage food quality and costs, and ensure the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and service.

Driven by a desire to inspire and motivate, you confidently navigate ambiguity and bring strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills to the role. You ensure our kitchens and food preparation areas operate at the highest levels of quality, safety, and efficiency, while maintaining strong supplier relationships and effective food ordering practices. As a creative chef, you thrive on experimenting with new ideas, developing exciting culinary creations, and leading engaging menu tastings.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead all kitchen operations, including food planning, preparation, production, and presentation.
Hire, train, coach, and develop kitchen personnel and Sous Chefs.
Develop menus and standardized recipes that reflect market trends and local ingredients.
Conduct menu tastings and drive culinary innovation.
Manage inventory, purchasing, food and labour costs, and minimize waste.
Ensure compliance with food safety, health, sanitation, and operational standards.
Oversee kitchen cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and supplier relationships.
Support F&B initiatives, community events, fundraisers, and culinary demonstrations.

To qualify for this fantastic opportunity, you have your Cook’s Trade Qualification with an Interprovincial Red Seal or equivalent, possess excellent working knowledge of kitchen policies and procedures and have your current Food Safe Level 2 certification. Ideally, you have at least 3 years of experience as a Sous Chef or higher. For bonus points, you have experience in high volume kitchens that are feeding large events like we host at the centre.
