Job Description
The Finance Manager is responsible for leading HCK's accounting and finance function while supporting the executive team with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and business analysis. This role focuses on building strong financial processes, providing operational insight, and supporting business growth.
The successful candidate will work closely with the COO and leadership team, gaining exposure to strategic finance activities while maintaining primary responsibility for accounting operations, financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, cash flow monitoring, and process improvement.
HCK is currently expanding from a custom-shop model into a dealer-network manufacturer over the next 12 to 24 months. This transition will introduce significant new financial complexity: channel-level P&L reporting, dealer credit and AR management, pricing model sophistication, growing working capital requirements, and eventually multi-channel financial planning. The Finance Manager will be central to building the financial infrastructure that supports this growth.
Responsibilities and Duties
Lead day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
- Monitor cash flow and prepare short- and medium-term cash flow forecasts.
- Analyze business performance and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
- Maintain and improve manufacturing cost accounting, inventory reporting, job costing, and variance analysis.
- Support pricing and profitability analysis for products, customers, and business channels.
- Coordinate external audit, tax filings, GST, PST, EHT, WSBC reporting, and compliance activities.
- Maintain appropriate internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Supervise and develop finance team members.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement across finance systems.
- Partner with operational leaders to understand business performance and support decision-making.
- Manage banking, insurance, and external stakeholder relationships in partnership with senior leadership.
Qualifications
- CPA designation (or near completion).
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- Manufacturing/cost accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
- Experience with inventory accounting, job costing, and variance analysis.
- Advanced Excel skills; ERP or business systems experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing or mentoring staff.
- This role will appeal to a results oriented and self-motivated individual who is seeking to be part of a growing organization that is fast paced, value driven, and collaborative. If you are someone who has demonstrated integrity while producing high quality work and sets a positive work culture for the organization, we would like to talk more about this opportunity.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting a growing manufacturing business.
- Exposure to ERP implementations or system upgrades.
- Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools.
- Interest in developing broader finance leadership capabilities over time.
What we Offer
This role will appeal to a finance professional who wants to contribute to strategy, not just behind the desk closing the books. If you are someone with the discipline of strong accounting practice, the strategic mindset of a future CFO, and the patience to develop into that role over time as HCK grows, we would like to talk more about this opportunity.
