Full job description

Western Canada Fire Protection is a well-established leader in fire protection services, proudly serving Southern Vancouver Island for over 39 years. We are committed to delivering reliable, high-quality life safety solutions to our clients, and we are looking for a skilled Fire Alarm Technician to join our growing team.

About the Role

As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm systems across residential, commercial, and institutional sites. You will play a key role in ensuring systems are compliant, fully operational, and properly documented in accordance with applicable codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

Perform annual and routine inspections of fire alarm systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards
Test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair fire alarm panels, devices, and related life safety equipment
Install and verify fire alarm system components as required
Conduct system functionality checks to ensure proper operation
Complete accurate and detailed service reports and maintain up-to-date site records
Communicate clearly with clients, explaining work performed and providing professional recommendations
Respond to service calls as part of an on-call rotation
Work safely and maintain compliance with all company and regulatory safety procedures

Qualifications

Minimum 1–3 years experience in the fire alarm industry (preferred)
CFAA certification or ASTTBC Registered Fire Protection Technician designation (asset)
Strong troubleshooting skills with fire alarm systems and low-voltage electrical systems
Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
Valid driver’s licence (required)
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Willingness to participate in on-call rotation
