Who We Are: Located on the traditional territories of the Ləkʷəŋən People, Surrounded by Cedar Child & Family Services’ (SCCFS) vision is to support the empowerment of the urban Indigenous community to continue the reclamation of traditional systems of caring for and protecting children so no child or youth will be placed into care. As an urban Indigenous Child & Family Service Agency, SCCFS is committed to providing child and family services strongly rooted in Indigenous cultural values and world views while ensuring urban Indigenous children and youth grow up connected to family, community, and culture.

SCCFS receives its delegation through the Provincial Director of Child Welfare, who gives the agency the authority to undertake administration of parts of the Child, Family and Community Service Act (CFCSA). Under its current delegation agreement, Surrounded by Cedar administers C3 (Voluntary Services) and C4 services (Guardianship).

In the role as Delegated Services Assistant, you will have the opportunity to:

Build positive relationships with children, youth, families, caregivers, Indigenous communities, and service providers to support connection, belonging, and well-being;
Coordinate services and supports that help children and youth achieve their care plan, permanency, and independent living goals;
Facilitate collaboration and communication among youth, families, community partners, Nations, and delegated practitioners to support inclusive decision-making;
Provide administrative and case support through documentation, meeting coordination, court-related assistance, and tracking key timelines; and
Contribute to a strong team environment through financial administration, mentorship, ongoing learning, and a commitment to culturally safe, trauma-informed practice.

What You Will Bring to the Role:

Grade 12 education and a certificate, diploma, or post-secondary education in a related field such as Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Administration, or another discipline. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children, youth and young adults who experience multiple barriers (multiple placements, homelessness, poverty, mental health, addiction, trauma, etc.).
Minimum of 2 years’ administrative experience, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and financial administration.
Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s License, satisfactory driver’s abstract, adequate vehicle insurance including business coverage and access to a safe and reliable vehicle.
Satisfactory vulnerable sector check as required through the Criminal Records Review Act.

Preference may be given to candidates who have:

Experience working within the urban Indigenous community or with urban Indigenous children, youth and families.
Experience using Integrated Case Management (ICM) system and/or Management Information System (MIS).
Experience working with financial management or accounting systems.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a variety of settings including the SCCFS office, client homes, and community settings. Regular travel to attend meetings and events is required. Evening and weekend work are required from time to time. Extensive computer work requires long hours of sitting and may cause eyestrain. Multiple shifting priorities. Some cleaning duties. Lifting office supplies/equipment up to 50 pounds.
