Role Overview
The IT Coordinator is the on-site technology presence at Durwest and the first point of contact for office staff and field crews. This role keeps people working: laptops, mobile devices, printers, connectivity, and every business application in daily use – Microsoft 365, Procore, Acumatica, SiteDocs, Monday.com, Harvest, BambooHR, Bluebeam, Adobe, and Hilti ON!Track.
This is a foundation role with a clear purpose: build practical, hands-on familiarity with the entire Durwest technology stack. The IT Coordinator executes defined tasks under supervision, follows the standards set by BDI Corporate IT Shared Services, and escalates anything beyond the documented procedure. The expectation over time in role is to move from supported to independent across every application in the portfolio, not only Microsoft 365.
Key Focus Areas
IT Systems + Infrastructure
- Provide tier-1 and tier-2 support for all Durwest IT systems so office staff and field crews stay productive.
- Follow the IT policies, procedures, and documented standards set by BDI Corporate IT Shared Services rather than improvising fixes.
- Perform first-line checks on site connectivity — office network, Wi-Fi, VPN, and Starlink — and escalate with findings.
- Apply security practices in daily work: MFA enforcement, password resets, phishing reporting, and least-privilege awareness.
Hardware Management
- Support and maintain all company hardware, including laptops, desktop computers, iPads, printers, and related peripherals.
- Image, configure, and enrol devices in Microsoft Intune to the documented standard build.
- Maintain accurate hardware inventory records; track warranty status and coordinate replacements with BDI IT corporate services.
- Assist with the IT setup of new office and site locations under direction.
Software + Licensing
- Provide day-to-day user support across the full Durwest application portfolio: Microsoft 365, Procore, Acumatica, SiteDocs, Monday.com, Harvest, BambooHR, Bluebeam, Adobe, and Hilti ON!Track.
- Submit and track licence and access requests; confirm provisioning is complete before closing the ticket.
- Perform basic Microsoft 365 administration under BDI direction: password resets, licence assignment requests, mailbox and shared resource requests.
- Build working knowledge of each application's core workflows so routine questions do not depend on vendor escalation.
- Report website issues and content requests to the responsible owner within IT.
User Support + Onboarding
- Set up new user profiles ahead of start date: device, accounts, application access, and security credentials.
- Deliver new-user orientation on Durwest IT tools, applications, and security expectations.
- Execute offboarding: account deactivation, licence reclamation, and equipment recovery, with evidence recorded.
- Act as the visible, approachable IT presence on site for both office and field staff.
Documentation + Escalation
- Maintain ticket hygiene: log every issue, categorize correctly, record troubleshooting steps, and keep users updated until closure.
- Document recurring issues and standard fixes; contribute to Durwest quick reference guides.
- Escalate tier-3 issues to the BDI IT Lead with clear notes, troubleshooting already performed, and business impact.

You bring a strong customer service mindset to both office staff and field crews, and you stay patient when the person in front of you is frustrated. You follow documented procedures rather than improvising fixes, and you ask for direction when a situation is unclear instead of guessing.
You are organized, consistent, and reliable in your written communication. You prioritize by business impact, close the loop on what you start, and you are curious about the applications Durwest runs on — you want to understand how the business uses them, not just how to reset a password.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1–3 years of experience in a helpdesk, desktop support, or IT coordinator role.
- Demonstrated experience supporting Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint) in a business environment; basic macOS and iPadOS support is an asset.
- Working knowledge of endpoint setup and troubleshooting — printers, Wi-Fi, VPN, MFA, peripherals, and docking stations — along with basic networking literacy (IP addressing, DNS and DHCP concepts, patch panels, and identifying switches and access points).
- Understanding of security fundamentals, including phishing recognition, MFA enforcement, least-privilege awareness, and safe handling of credentials.
- Experience using ticketing and asset-tracking tools, with accurate, well-organized written documentation.
Considered an asset:
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, MS-900, or SC-900.
- Exposure to Procore, SiteDocs, Bluebeam, Hilti ON!Track, or other construction applications.
- Experience working in a construction, trades, or project-based industry.
- Comfortable working on active construction sites and supporting field crews, with clear communication for non-technical users across office and field environments.
