Role Summary
Reporting to the General Manager, the Landscape Foreman plays a key role in delivering high-quality landscaping projects and supporting the success of field operations. This is a full-time, permanent position suited to a hands-on leader who takes pride in workmanship, team performance, and jobsite efficiency.
Position Overview
The Landscape Foreman is responsible for supervising day-to-day field operations, leading crews, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards. This role requires a balance of leadership, productivity, and problem-solving, with a strong focus on quality control and team development.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and confident managing both people and projects in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise landscape crews on active job sites
- Plan and assign daily tasks to ensure efficient workflow and productivity
- Read and interpret project plans, layouts, and specifications
- Maintain quality control and ensure all work meets company and client expectations
- Communicate effectively with project managers, supervisors, clients, and team members
- Monitor job progress, materials, equipment, and site conditions
- Identify and resolve issues proactively to maintain schedule and quality
- Maintain safe work practices and ensure all safety standards are followed
- Train, mentor, and support crew members through coaching and leadership
- Maintain organized, clean, and professional job sites
- Assist with job estimating and project planning as required
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience in landscaping, hardscaping, or construction supervision
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work alongside crews while directing tasks and maintaining productivity
- Solid problem-solving ability and sound judgment
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to manage time, materials, and personnel effectively
- Comfortable working in a physically demanding, outdoor environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Foreman, Lead Hand, or Crew Leader
- Knowledge of landscape construction, including grading, drainage, hardscape, and plant installation
- Ability to read and execute site plans and specifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Experience operating landscaping tools and equipment
- Safety certifications such as Occupational First Aid or Fall Protection are considered an asset
Working Conditions
This is a field-based position requiring daily on-site presence with the crew. The role involves physical work including lifting, bending, kneeling, and working in various weather conditions. Flexibility is required, as jobsite priorities may shift and require quick adaptation.
